The rate that it happens at is so infrequent idk how this cracks the top 1,000 things anyone cares about. According to this article from Reuters they found 56 in the whole country from 2019-2021. That was for insurance claims. So even being generous and tripling to account for people paying out of pocket your talking about maybe once per state per year?

Typical social issue bullshit that is used to get people fighting one another over instead of focusing on things that actually effect anyone.

I’ll sleep better knowing I have conservatives looking out for those wonderful insurance companies who will make people pay full price for preventative medications and charge people full price for hearing aids all the while fighting for junk science and antivax personal freedom bullshit. What a fucking world we live in.

The whole chopping off parts argument being perpetuated here totally ignores the mental side of a patient’s gender identity and mental well being and that identity doesn’t have to conform to established gender roles or sexual organs you were born with.

They also are so concerned with a child going through the affirming process but are cancelling school lunch programs and AP courses black kids can’t study their own history in this country. I’m so glad the white males in this country are protecting the black kids from AP African American History. . Gattaca is totally right. It’s just something to fight about. There is zero impact to my life how a child or adult wants to identify and how they achieve their own mental and physical well being (medical care). Just go back to bass fishing or watching NASCAR and leave these people the fuck alone.

No, it's been going on for years. The first one happened over a hundred years ago. It's been in the news because of the sudden wave of wokeness. The scalpel might be a little sharper or the anesthesia might be improved, but it's not modern medicine.

If you read my post, you'll see that I said the scalpel might be sharper and the anesthesia improved, but the process has been around for 102 years, thus not something new or modern. It appears to be happening more IMO not because it's a new procedure, but because it's been in the media particularly social media where word gets around much quicker than it did 102 years ago.

The age of consent is pretty low in several states Ive seen conservatives are the ones leading the charge on reducing it further and getting rid of it totally. lol. GOP proposed bill to eliminate age of Consent Also the SCOTUS has never ruled on the legality of a set age. Again... its between multiple people a minor and another non-gaurdian adult.... these activities are criminalized for many reasons.

As well the parents have a say in whether their child is allowed to marry or have consensual relations because they are their legal gaurdians..... but marrying and sexual relations involve other parties and do concern other people not just the child and their parents. The decision to transition or reassign is strictly between the parents and their child who know them better than anyone else. They make that decision along with a trained medical professional(s) and it literally impacts no one else. Not a single person. And these kids are not able to just got get reassigned. Their parents are still responsible for them.

I know its nuanced but nuance isnt something this board does well with haha.

I don't think anybody has much of an issue with adults transitioning.

The problem lies with minors who are still developing physically, emotionally and mentally transitioning.

My daughter wanted to transition until she hit 18 and then decided that she really was a girl after all. I guess it's a good thing we didn't pursue her desires at 15 and 16, huh?
