They ostensibly used NIL money to keep Williams, Sawyer, and TJ from going pro--so didn't really need to buy any dlinemen in the portal?

I dont think their Judkins buy was very accretive/wise given Henderson is coming back anyways. Only one RB can be on the field at once. Better to have spent that $$ on even another elite portal receiver or probably two
I completely forget it's illegal to have 2 rb sets like we did numerous times past season. Guess we should've received some flags since you can only have 1 on the field at a time

Dang, a rival is raising lots of money to play by the rules in the NIL era? They should have merely gone insane by losing their rivalry game for a decade straight and implement the biggest cheating scheme in modern CFB history. A bit over the top of the Buckeyes

What's stopping ND alumni donating millions to NIL? We have more millionaires and billionaires than Ohio State

With what they are retaining & the players that they paid to come in, its not just beat Michigan next year, its National Title... a lot of pressure for Cryin' Day.

Besides Caleb Downs, what player that OSU portaled in would you have wanted ND to take?

I mean, that's a bit of a loaded question. I wouldn't want Howard because we got Riley. And, I wouldn't pay 1.5M for Judkins because we have Price and Love. But, that doesn't negate their value to OSU. Or, the fact that they are adding all these guys to an already loaded roster and income recruiting class.

Agree. Their QB is someone we practically had wrapped up and then decided we could do better.

For them I think the big win was the guys they kept from going to the draft. The best players at Ohio State in recent years have often gone three-and-out, but they persuaded/paid some very good players to come back next year, and that’s going to pay dividends.

THE this school

They've spent approximately $13MM in NIL money to add or retain players. In five seasons as Ohio State's head coach, Day has amassed a 39-3 Big Ten record. If he goes 11-1 next year, with the one loss being Michigan (4 in a row), given the amount of money they've spent (coupled with his $9MM salary), is it possible or likely that they can him?

That's pretty crazy to think about, but it appears they are inching towards that point. They've shown they'll go "all in." If he can't get it done next year, then when?

If they go 11-1 they'll make the playoffs and Day's fate is probably determined by what happens there.
I'd expect Michigan takes a sizable step back next year, and that game's in Columbus. I think more likely Ohio State's one loss is Oregon, which won't sting so hard.
But anything less than a Big Ten title and getting to, probably, the semifinals of the playoff would be considered a disappointment, and have some powerful people at Ohio State questioning their investment decisions.

I think discerning fans can know that's no big feat when the only team in the B10 with even close to comparable talent is the one who handed him the 3 L's

His performance since taking over might be even more damning looking thru the rearview of how elite Stroud is looking in the NFL

This dude had a NFL franchise QB and a handful of current and/or future first round pro bowl or fringe pro bowl receivers and definitely at least serviceable oline and RB play at his disposal--so I don't even know if you can give him his "offensive genius" moniker cause there may be an argument his offenses underperformed especially in 2021 and 2022

He lost to Oregon occ in 2021 and got all he could handle from a decimated Utah team in rose bowl to end that year

ND played them tuff in 2022 which then proceeded to lose to Marshall the next week

Not salty, just stating the reality--but he should've lost to ND here in 2023

About the only thing you can say to support him is that maybe they would've beat Georgia in playoffs last year if Harrison hadn't got hurt

If I'm an OSU fan--its a natty or his azz is grass

Completely forgot about the CFB expansion, and I agree regarding Ohio State should take care of business against Michigan next year. Michigan is losing so much.

I really think Wall Street is giving some of that endowment money back to fuel this. That money isn’t sitting there for perpetuity

Money spends it doesn’t just sit dormant
