Missed this when posted, but in having my ear in coaching circles down here, it seems like the deciding factor on why this kid didn't flip to Miami is because he wanted to play with Cam Ward but thought he'd stay in the NFL Draft (Miami got Ward about two weeks after signing day).

If he leaves, my expectation would be he ends up in Coral Gables. Sounds like it was very close at the end.

This is just the tip of the ice berg as more kids sign contracts that they truly don’t understand and don’t fully realize what they are obligated too.
I'm not sure where the confusion is, but seems to me you should know if you have a contract. Surely he has a lawyer?

Lawyers are wrong all the time. Contracts get voided all of time. Maybe he didn't understand the full legality of what he was signing. Maybe a lawyer told him to sign it, but thought if there was any issues in the future it would be easy to get out of. I just see this sort of thing happening a lot moving forward. I mean professional athletes get screwed in contract negotiations all the time and they are grown ass men who are supposed to have college educations. Not trying to imply he got screwed here just that grown men have issues understanding the full scope of contracts they are signing and thats with lawyers at hand.

Hence my comment on his dad. Apparently he was representing him when they signed the binding sheet about a year ago.

I'm aware of the history of bad contracts. I'm not sure who isn't the smart one here, but it seems someone should have dug into this before starting up his sight. If he hurried and signed their contract to get the payday, then shame on him.
