Left guard Chance Warmack said the first team hasn't missed a beat with Kelly at the center of it all.

"He's an exceptional young player that catches on very fast with the scheme of things," Warmack said. "I don't really see him as a young player. I see him as a veteran.

"He's keen on carrying me and taking control in terms of making the right calls, knowing the scheme, what it takes to be a starter at center on the offensive line. He's doing a really good job."

Kelly was a three-star prospect out of West Chester, Ohio, but he was recruited like a four- or five-star. He was one of Alabama's first commitments for the 2011 class, as former linebackers coach Sal Sunseri led the charge to bring Kelly to Alabama.

In my experience only fools spend any time wondering about whether oppositional stars will show up to play against you. And Kelly is no fool, nor Diaco. You practice as if the players who play will in fact get off the bus. What you hope is that when some guy doesn't suit up, your own guy who has been revving his engine doesn't relax and look for a shadetree to lie down under every second play. I doubt that there is any of that in Big Lou at all. The opposing jersey is all he needs to rock and roll the tide backwards.

My stance is the same as when it happened last year with Cam Robinson: I'd like to see Saban make an example of him to get the point across to every other player on the team, and send him packing. I doubt it happens, but that's what I'd like to see.

From what I've heard on podcasts, Saban does punish them pretty hard. Robinson had to do like 100 hours of community service, and then spend like 16 hours riding around in a cop car on traffic stops, as well things I'm sure were unreported.

Saban doesn't care what people think, I actually don't mind how he punishes them. One could argue the community service and spending time with police offers is a better punishment than sitting out a football game.
