Hype videos turning down the Alabama job.

Youse are right. It's the end of an era. College football is doomed.

Not *too surprising that Lanning is staying, I guess. Tons of money at Nike U and moving to the B1G adds some prestige to that job. I would think the pull to a blue blood might be hard to resist, but then again, who wants to be the guy following a legend.

Never really saw the fit. In my opinion, Dabo or Kiffin makes the most sense.

Dabo
Dabo is from Alabama and an alum. He's also built a program and has won 2 NCs at Clemson. Clemson fans (particularly Tyler) are, for whatever reason, growing impatient with Dabo. In addition, pointing out the elephant in the room, Clemson is also in an extremely uncomfortable situation with its ACC affiliation. The SEC doesn't want them. The Big Ten doesn't want them. They're...stuck. The knock on Dabo is his attitude towards NIL and the Portal. I think his outlook can easily be changed by sitting in with a few boosters. Frankly, Alabama football is different from the rest of the country....they'll cross any boundaries and clear any hurdles to win. Obviously, the NIL / Portal aspect would be made a condition to his employment.

Kiffin
Despite being an in-conference move, make no mistake, moving on from Ole Miss to Alabama isn't a lateral move. He's also bold and brazen enough to assume the job after Saban. He's an offensive mastermind and has proven to be a tremendous coach. Alabama has certain advantage ($$$) that Ole Miss simply doesn't have. We all know Kiffin isn't loyal to a program either (see Tennessee to USC and wasn't Kiffin previously in discussions with Auburn as well).

While it may be cheesy, you guys making fun of the Dan Lanning vid about turning down Bama realize that ND had a video for Tommy Rees turning down the LSU gig, right?

One of my first reactions to the Saban news, "Fuck .... BK is going to hire Rees as OC, isn't he?"

Saban is a good man and husband. Same reason Urban retired from Florida, although the details were a little different.
I have zero reason to think anything else. Their reported relationship is why I think it's a bit open right now. He may just want to spend as much time with her as he can tolerate. "Tolerate" is a rough word choice, but I have yet to meet a person who hasn't had personal struggles in caring for Alzheimer's (friends and family).

Urban is not a good man or husband in my opinion. But I also only know what has been reported about his behavior.

It was video of him speaking to the team in a meeting that he was f*cking staying (his words).

Kiffin came after Poodle at SC. Imagine him following Saban at Bama. I think he's just crazy enough to maybe go for if given the opportunity.

I would love to see the SEC pound on Dabo for a few years until Bama fires him. I think that would be worth watching. Then again, I'd love seeing Kiffin get it handed to him at Bama too.
