REPORT: NFL Superstar Aaron Rodgers Implicated In Gay Controversy | Radar Online

Hadn't seen this posted yet, but very intriguing. Evidently this has been circulating on twitter and social media all day today. I can't even fathom the media firestorm that this would create if it were true. I can't even wrap my mind around how polarizing a topic this would be among the mainstream media if it were true. I think this certainly would go a long way for the LGBT community, but unfortunately there would be a lot of backlash from those opposed to homosexuality.

It would be awesome if it were true. A back-of-the-roster player could be marginalized and phased out of the league, similar to what happened to Jason Collins in the NBA. If Rodgers is gay, it would force the issue. His team and his organizations and its fans rallying around him would be a great message, and as a bonus we would get to watch the backwards thinkers among the Packers' die hards come to grips with it (which would be true for every team; not singling out the Pack).

If it turns out there is nothing to it, then obviously I won't be "disappointed" that someone isn't gay. That doesn't even make sense. I would love it, though, if a superstar came out because I think it would do a ton to advance the cause of fairness and justice and equality.

I for one am ready for our society to grow up and get over the fact that some people are homosexual. Good grief.

My stance has always been that there are greater issues in this country/world than judging who people choose to be in a relationship with. However, there is no doubt that the debate will rage if this legitimate. This isn't John Ameche, Kwame Harris, or even Robin Roberts.

The only thing wrong here is that I hope he's gay just to help society finally get the hell over people being gay.

What Rhode said.
I can't imagine anything that would defuse this stupid idea that you can't be gay in a professional sports locker room quicker than one of the NFL's premier quarterbacks coming out.
But, really, who knows.

Reminds me of Playmakers. I love that show.

Also, it really shouldn't matter but you know it's going to cause a ****storm.

Interestingly enough, this is in the news this week.

The Houston Oilers Had Two (Mostly) Openly Gay Players In 1993

Oilers endorsed, accepted their gay teammates - Houston Chronicle

"Listen, those guys that we're talking about were unbelievable teammates," said Pro Bowl linebacker Lamar Lathon, who starred at the University of Houston. "And if you wanted to go to war with someone, you would get those guys first. Because I have never seen tougher guys than those guys.

"And everybody in the locker room, the consensus knew or had an idea that things were not exactly right. But guess what? When they strapped the pads on and got on the field, man, we were going to war with these guys because they were unbelievable."

Defensive back Bubba McDowell echoed his former teammate, saying the gay players were highly valued on the field and showering with them in the locker room was "no big deal."

I didn't read the one about Collins, the article about the Oilers and I won't read this one. To me it's no big deal, period.

Media would care more about it then the actual players do. Hope it isn't true just for the fact that I don't feel like only hearing on ESPN how "Brave" Rodgers is for the next 12 months. Would be unbearable.

Who cares? I don't agree with it but that doesn't mean that he is a bad person. If he is and is happy like that then who cares. The media just needs to be sparking a debate some how.

Now this would be the proper thread to let Pat back in to. I'm sure he'd have a butt load of great things to say.

As far as me, this isn't 1985. There are far more important things in todays society to worry about than someones sexual preference.

Odd that a gay guy would sleep with half the female population of The United States....

;)

Odd that he's rarely been in a long term relationship and is still unmarried and childless at 40 years old. I have specific reasons for my claim though. (and no I didn't sleep with the guy)

No need for children when you spend time with the local Boys and Girls club in the off season.

I would be childless and unmarried at $40million in the bank. I would be tapping everything with a heart beat and any one of them that wanted in a relationship that had enough of my shenanigans would be kicked to the curb for the next fresh fish of the day.

Isn't this the ideal dream life of a bachelor?
