Did that constant pointing to the "battle" thing there mean something?

I agree I don't like to hear Spell say he isn't 100% committed, but given Penn St.'s situation they need to keep recruiting him if they want him.

Since Freeman has been at ND has a committed kid said they are not fully 100% committed?

We never pulled Deuce Knight’s offer as far as I remember. I’d be surprised if this kid ends up at PSU at this point unless they turn it around and end up playing for a natty

The word on the street is that PSU is broke from an NIL standpoint and he is no longer willing to give them a home team discount.

Can't imagine their boosters are going to be too eager to open the pocketbooks when they've got a huge potential buyout looming.

I will be curious what ND does here, seems they would be high on the list with a good NIL offer but will they pay 3 top tier guys from back to back classes? That's a lot of money to tie up in RBs.

That’s where NIL comes in. Doesn’t have to be ND themselves paying.

Yeah, the issue is that they basically shelled out large sums of money to get guys to return to this "championship team" and then haven't beaten a single P4 team this year lol

So no one is writing checks when the morale is at an all time low and people are saying "what's the point?"

That Villanova game tho.

On one hand, I get this. Bad week to pass the hat. On the other, Penn State has one of the largest alumni bases in the country and a rabid fan base. If they can’t scrape up enough money to land an in-state five-star running back, they have bigger problems. Do they not want to win games in 2027 and 28?

Also helps to have rbs who actually produce
That still matters a lot in my opinion. If Love and Price get to the League coupled with Kyren's established success that shows we can get you drafted and playing at the next level. That really matters. Not to say kids will give a "discount" but it might take a little less to convince him to play for ND when that is factored in.

if you watch podcasts that irish beat writers do or read what they say players are turning down bigger deals to stay at or to come to ND

Our culture and coaching (and our degree) will appeal to some guys, especially ones who are already here, especially if we’re at least decent on NIL. But usually not the straight-up bag-chasers. (Not saying Spell is, IDK).

I love that they used that excuse for why the 2026 class is ass, but justified it because they were all in on this year's team.

Penn State just offered the #5 back in 2027 they know Spell is gone
I wonder what Franklin’s pitch is? We lost the best RB coach in America. Singleton has regressed. We have lost 3 in a row, including UCLA & Northwestern. Our top RB has all but decommitted. I may be fired any minute. You should be a part of what we’re building.
