I would have agreed if the portal wasn’t around then.

It shouldn’t have taken 3 years to hit the portal at wr like we did for this upcoming year.

This year our top wr might be Collins and 3 of our top 6 or 7 wrs will be from the portal.

It was Kelly’s fault we didn’t have a 21 qb, so he gets coan and we go 11-1. 22 and 23 had obvious holes at wr and qb, only after 8-4 did we get a portal qb, and never pushed hard for wrs until we couldn’t get open vs any good teams in 23.

Thats unfortunate. I didnt go to ND so I don't know how the dorm situation is, but my father went to grad school there. He said one of the best things about ND athletes was the fact that they were 'forced' to be around students and lived similar lives to the other students on campus. Made them approachable, relatable, and very respectful to everyone on campus. They saw everyone as peers, rather than just fans.

If this is true, it's too bad Meadows didn't see value in gaining that type of life experience. Or any freshman coming to school for that matter.

ND doesn't make them live in dorms with the regular folk. Only requires them to have a room in a ND dorm. If an athlete wants to live off campus, they have to pay for those costs on their own. They don't get a room allowance.

In the age of NIL, I'm guessing most football players will choose to live off campus quite early on.

What's the point is of having a policy that (in theory) requires them to live on campus so that those athlete's become more well rounded students, if they just choose to live off campus in small groups of 2 or 4? I understand the history of the policy and the purpose behind it. But if the end result is our athlete's are living off campus anyhow, then I would think something should change.

I would think it would be better for our players to live in athletic dorms where there is a greater sense of community than to live in small groups in off campus housing.

At one point, didn't the NCAA crack down on athletic only dorms and housing citing it as an unfair benefit because some schools had great housing while others may have not even had them? That was years and years ago so it may have changed. I don't know.

There’s a rule against them but it’s easily circumvented by letting some donors’ kids live there too. E.g.: the University of Kentucky’s Wildcat Lodge.
