Honest question. For the oldheads. In your time following ND. Has there ever been a more stacked RB room than what ND has put together? I mean I'd really like to know. This is crazy the amount of talent in that room. Oh quick note. I love the way that Freeman is using them. Keeping the wear and tear to a minimum.

1990 had 7 guys who played in the NFL. 7.

I don't think you'll ever see a room again full of HoF guys like Holtz had in the late 80s. Devine had some decent rooms in the late 70s with Ferguson, Heavens and Jim Stone was a good back. Ara had Art Best, Al Hunter, Eric Penick in the early 70s. In 1966 Ara had Nick Eddy, Larry Conjar, Bob Gladieux and Rocky Bleier. Those were all NFL backs.

The RB room IS more loaded than the OLine room. And THAT is nearly impossible to imagine.

It is my belief that we will have the RB roomS of the two best other RB rooms in the country.

I've never seen anything like this at ND. There is no way to keep all these guys. (Sadly.)
Holtz had RB rooms with 6-7 NFL Draft picks and some ended up at other positions and still in the 1st Rd.

It is borderline impossible for N. James to earn minutes outside of his 4 + playoffs RS games. If he does, it means the staff are FIRMLY convinced he's ready to be a starter next year.

Kedren Young looks pretty damn smooth for 240+ lbs and Aneyas looks better. I've never seen depth like this and the two studs in 2026 will not be waiting patiently. Helluva room that appears to still have a positive slope.

Art Best and Penick. Couple of names I haven’t heard in a long time. Didn’t Best pass away?

I think we are going to see Seider utilize all of our backs this year. We all know what Love and Price can do; I think we'll see them get more involved in the passing game, whatever Williams was asked to do last year (convert a third down) he did it, Young will be that guy that gets ND that tough 1-2 yards needed.

You know, you're right. I saw Penick passed quite recently, but I had to look up Best. Cancer got him 10 years ago. Good call, didn't know that.

He said in an interview that he preferred a two back rotation. Hopefully that was only at Penn St because he didn't have 6 options.
Love and Price need to be on pitch counts so we can lean on them come the playoffs.

Saying borderline impossible I disagree. It’s a long season. Injuries happen. Love or Price both could get banged up and the staff give them a rest against lesser opponents. If everyone’s healthy I think he plays his 4 or 5 games whatever it is and that’s it. I think he’s gonna push to be RB one next year

I don't like the idea of limiting touches for guys especially in games that are competitive. Like yeah I don't want Love getting 20+ carries on average, but let him cook please. Same with Price. The young guys can eat next year and in blowouts

Yea. I think you need to balance out was DMC and Seider want. DMC had like 8 jobs/roles for rbs. I think you want to have 2 guys who are the majority (Love and Price). Then 1-2 guys who take the load off or have a specific role.

And RBs need enough touches to get in a rhythm and see what is happening out there.

Yeah, I get that we’re loaded at RB but I think you’re right. Love is the best in the country and Price is probably in the top 10. I want as many memories of these guys as possible.

Which is a more vivid memory for you, his Miami OH Td run or PSU TD run?

With the studs ND has, AW seems like he'll be relegated
Until someone can prove they can do the 3rd down stuff as well as AW, I think he’s still getting reps. It’s Payne who is odd man out imo

If DM was still here I would maybe disagree with you. DM loved Payne in that third down role.
