Like last year’s top 3 class?
ND’s 2024 class will finish 8-10, like normal.
Commits will leave, crap will happen, the normal distribution curve will be as always…ND finishes 8-10.
The question is, and still remains, can Marcus Freeman coach up 8-10 classes to top 5 rankings like BK did his last 5 years.

Top 50
Wingo *possible*
Scott
Carr 🍀
Can Williams 🍀
Lambert

Top 100
Hayes
Johnson
Jacob Smith

Top 150
Larsen 🍀

Top 200
Pierce
McClellan
Aneyas Williams 🍀
Young

13 top 200 as of today. Call it what you want but that’s some serious talent.

That’s how they are ranked right now. We all know they could drop or move up. And that’s leaving out some other names that we might be able to visit and you never know.

It has less to do with Washington and more to do with the precedent of commits taking visits and “going through the process” while committed to Notre Dame. When the star QB and leader of the class is doing it. Then why isn’t everyone doing it?

5 star QB’s committed to Bama, UGA, OSU, etc aren’t rolling up on ND’s campus and taking photos shoots with their 7 on 7 teams regularly.

It’s a coaching staff issue. Quit letting committed players go on visits, official or unofficial. If that means they don’t commit as early as they do, then so be it.

Yep. Pushing for early commits has its pros and its cons.

The staff seems comfortable with it, and would rather have the commit even if it might not be rock solid. But it can sure get awkward when kids still want to “take their visits.” Especially now that places will pay them just to visit.

I don’t even think this is what Carr is doing here. But he may at some point. And the discourse in the Justin Scott thread assumes that he will too.

In the alternative Rees could pursue a second QB…. The reverse of the Dinty Moore strategy.

How do you not know Carr shows up in Maize and Blue for signing day???

Yeah, I don’t think Carr is a good example here. But a no visit policy would’ve saved us from the Peyton Bowen and Jayden Limar bullshit.

Bowen’s situation was so messed up. He didn’t even visit Oregon!
The flip side is all the guys who unofficialed somewhere - sometimes just to go see a game - and we’re no-drama locks.
I think you’ve got trouble if a guy is taking OVs (which I believe is Freeman’s stated red line?). But short of that you do kind of need to play it on a case-by-case basis. Carr going to a 7v7 at Washington is not a problem. Carr taking in the Ohio State-Penn State game might be.

So can we establish some full "peeing our pants" rules here? If he visits somewhere unofficially that isn't involved with a 7 on 7 tournament, then we can pee pants?

That’s the thing: from the research I’ve done, this is a 7 on 7 tournament occurring at Washington by Pylon. So I’m not sure if this is even an unofficial visit. It just seems like much ado about nothing.

Here’s the full schedule of upcoming tourneys: Pylon 7on7 Football - Tournaments

Proof in the end is that Bowen and his parents has some character issues. I know his mom wanted ND but they allowed him to string ND along.

I don’t think South Bend is a hot destination for Pylon 7v7 tournaments to be fair lol

"Slap the Sign"

Suppose you have yet to hear of 7-on-7 football. In that case, it’s essentially a way for top receivers, defensive backs, quarterbacks, and others to showcase their stuff in the off-season. It’s an air-raid-focused competition with a shortened field and 24 players on each team. In this particular instance, CJ Carr is in Tacoma, Washington, with his team in a tournament hosted by Pylon 7on7. In fact, Carr posted Instagram pictures of himself and others at the stadium and even sporting the Washington Huskies uniform (not to be alarmed).

If Carr has a solid showing, which I’d assume he does, it’ll only benefit everyone involved and potentially the Notre Dame football program. Top-priority Irish targets Ryan Wingo, Jeremiah McClellan, and Terrance Moore are on his team. McClellan attends the same school that produced Notre Dame football’s top offensive recruit, Jeremiyah Love. Love has a solid connection with McClellan, which is notable.

Love and McClellan aren’t the only two from that area, as Ryan Wingo is also from St. Louis, Missouri. The 5-star wide receiver is being recruited hard by numerous schools but still seems to think highly of Notre Dame football. Will CJ Carr persuade him that joining forces in South Bend is the move to make? Time will tell, but if they build any solid connection in these 7-on-7 tournaments, that also bodes well for a college connection.

It’s no secret that Carr does loads of recruiting via social media, like his current quest of getting Justin Scott to lead the defense for the Irish. However, he’s just as good of a recruiter behind the scenes as on social media. I’ll see if he has any insight into this weekend.

Carr plays 7v7 on the same team as Wingo and McClellan? Hopefully that pays recruiting dividends but how does that work? They live an eight hour drive from each other. Do they have practice?

They practice at the events mostly but during summer they travel a lot more and spend more time together as teams
