As far as the future of the DL, success of the program, etc. I think the impact of this "5 star" is less than landing or not landing many other 5 star prospects over the years. It's free upside as we already have our NT. So, why not. However, this is not a litmus test for recruiting like a few of these other ones.

But, be that as it may, if this comes down to Michigan versus ND, you simply cannot lose him to Michigan. Nor do I think they do.

Yep. This. If Scott goes to Miami, whatever. We’ll be fine. If Scott goes to Michigan and Mike Elston? Burn it all down.

Possible saving grace here is it seems like scUM is bogging down w/ their current class. I know they were expecting a 3 or 4 commits coming from a weekend a few weeks back and no commitments have happened yet. So let's hope this is the last hurdle ND has to get past.

If ND can close here, it’ll be Very tough to believe we didn’t make some type of up front $$ promises.

Considering that 71% of the top 50 recruits in the 2013-2017 classes were either drafted or have played in an NFL game, it'd be stupid not to. The success rate for top 50 recruits is incredible. If you're going to pay anyone, it should be those guys.

For everyone suggesting that Michigan already having a full DL class works in our favor, what makes you think they wouldn't make room for a kid like this? Hell, if ND is will to recruit over kids, bet your ass scUM is too.

I think people are "guessing" that it could be a turnoff for Scott when deciding between UM and ND.
With that said, I don't think Scott would worry about his competition at either school.

There is definitely a pattern with a lot of these prospects.

At any given point in the cycle, somebody from one of these websites puts something out there that suggests "ND leads." You then have the population of ND fans that go completely out of their heads that said prospect is going to commit and sign with ND sooner than later. Once this does not happen, said population of ND fans go completely out of their heads again and start blaming coaches, the administration and anyone else they can project the fact that they jumped to a conclusion they ultimately should not have.

CFB recruiting is a market unto itself like NFL Free Agency, the MLB Trade Deadline and Soccer's Summer Transfer Window. Rile people up and do it behind paywalls of "premium content" to siphon money from people's wallets. It's pretty genius.

The issue for ND is how does it differentiate itself from Michigan. Really Michigan is the program most closely similar to ND. Great academics, Football, tradition, north midwest.

Unfortunately, Harbaugh is no longer shitting the bed. I love MF's charisma...but they need to get that kid on campus otherwise its lights out.

While ND wants Scott, does Scott want ND? ND will have it's opportunity to get him on campus for OSU or USC, does he visit?

Scott is telling others & ND he will visit for the end of July BBQ.
But he has said that before.

I look at it this way;
A) He shows up to the BBQ, he commits to ND
B) He doesn’t show up to the BBQ, he isn’t going to ND

So I think we will have our answer the end of July.

Maybe he pulls a BK, eats all the BBQ and sends a text to everyone on the way home that he's going somewhere else.

Also Ann Arbor was voted as one of the best places to raise a family, South Bend is one of the most dangerous cities in the US

He could pull a Braden McGregor & tell all the ND commits he is going to ND on their weekly gaming session, despite the fact he already committed to Michigan & even made his announcement video the week before.

Id least show up for the barbecue it’s probably worth more than the gas it would cost him to get over there

Exactly it's a business where reporting falsehoods drives clicks and there's no repercussion for being wrong or stringing consumer along.

I'm not a subscriber, but I'm going to assume no on the following:

KVA
Shaw
Scott
Nelson
Ziglar
Nelson & Ziglar are off the board obviously.

Shaw was someone ND just didn’t push hard enough for.

Didn’t close with KVA, if he does go elsewhere.

With Scott, who knows?

And to be honest, they haven’t closed the deal with Lambert yet, either.

Still likes his CB on Scott (doesn't feel as good, but not moving it). Michigan is the biggest threat. OSU is the darkhorse.

Likes his CB on Lambert.

KVA who knows.

That’s not too bad.

Ryan Roberts interviewed KVA today & went over each school with him, & then in the end he said what was most important to him, and it was basically the same thing he said about ND.

They (Roberts & Driskell) are less confident after the weekend, but think KVA hasn’t decided yet & will spend a couple weeks really deciding.
