Line him up in the slot and let him bully linebackers and slot corners.

My favorite pickup on the offensive side of the ball.
That’s what my boy Kyle Shanahan would do! Works like a charm

I really don't get it though.

It's based on the fact that people think he is a football genius... because of his name.

He might end up being great, and a true field general at the line like his kin. And I have already argued that it's fine to rate him as a 5-star QB based on his mental potential/genetics.

But his film doesn't show a top-25 recruit.

I know it's not really meaningful but I laughed at the fact that Manning is getting praised here when he's just jogging around against this defense.

Awesome. Great job Stuckey, Rees, Freeman. Especially Stuckey. We need to hold on to him somehow.

I am balanced about Rees. Most either love him or hate him. I feel nothing for him and I just want the best man for the job.
He is very lucky he landed CJ when he did. I think the fan base would’ve come unhinged otherwise.

100%
But it is also a bit rough to say its luck that he landed CJ.
He obviously did well to be doing good with CJ and Moore. But he/they totally messed up backing off everyone else in the 23 class.

More that I meant he was lucky CJ wanted to commit so early. CJ certainly softened the blow of Dante for me. For some, it more than made up for the loss (I never saw him as important as some), but there are a lot of Dante fans. To me, an elite ‘24 QB was always the most important and we got one that destroyed Nico at the Elite 11. I never foresaw a situation where CJ and Dante were on the same team and certainly not where both stuck around the program and graduated. Based on what I’ve seen and heard about CJ both from a talent and leadership perspective, we have the guy that would’ve ascended the mountain anyways. Do I still think we need more than a depth guy for ‘23? Probably, but I think regardless of who it is, CJ is the going to be ready to play at a high level as a freshman. He’s too accurate and he’ll EE. He’s also going to be a 19 y/o true fresham, a full year older than many. I’d love to get Novosad or Minchey. Competition will make them better and Carr could be a bust. It’s always possible. But I don’t think we needed Dante Moore to precede CJ Carr when we have TB12.

How Buchner plays and more specifically throws will be big for Rees

Did that happen?
Tell me more (no pun).

Yes. Was reported a few days ago on IB by John Garcia Jr. CJ had the highest score for the entire year at the Elite 11. He could not be invited to the finals obviously bc he was a sophomore. But he set the season high and scorched Nico, who was throwing at the same event. Interesting bit, the second highest score all season was set by Novosad, a hair under CJ. CJs accuracy is off the charts and he hit that season high as a sophomore, beating all the ‘23 kids. I’m guessing this is the same version of him that showed up to Irish Invasion and Rees witnessed throwing and he couldn’t resist getting the kid to commit whether it was off putting to Dante or not.

To stay on topic, an arm like that will bode well for a kid like Greathouse who is maybe not a 4.3 kid, but has elite route running ability and great hands. CJ will be able to pinpoint it into his lap and put the ball wherever he wishes on the field.

Just getting caught up. He’s the real deal. Best part about this commitment is i think he should be ready early. We’re really getting somewhere with these WR’s.

For sure.
What if Buchner is good but JJ McCarthy is great?
Or Buchner is average/poor but Angeli is good but Allar is great?
Haha.
Yeah that would hurt his stock big time and nd would have a below expectations year….. I’m all in on Buchner… my question is he an all around qb or a dynamic running qb with a little bit of a gimmicky pass offense

Impressive 2023 WR class and all currently without a QB committed.

Could BK & his staff do this, likely not.

I am excited to see what Stuckey can do with our WR play on the field. I think some of our younger guys- Colzie, Thomas, & Merriweather all could be difference makers as reserves (hoping Colize has a big fall camp to possibly start).

Not just a QB. It’s baffling an elite, 5 star or high 4 star QB isn’t begging to be in the #1 ranked class with these receivers and the most elite OL coach in the nation. It’s a QBs dream.

I wonder if ND is intimidating to QB high schoolers. It’s one of the most public sports jobs in the country.
I think most are intimidated by us,… ND’s message board community is so ‘big time spot light’ it’s sure to make some weaker men crumble,… and if that intimidates them then,…
