I just don’t understand how parents can let their sons/daughters play people they are getting paid to coach. That’s how they support their families. 17 and 18 years olds should be starting to mature enough and have to make responsible choices. If you want to go to OU for a piece fine go. If you want to go to ND for top notch education and play top football awesome. But don’t play the coaches.

If you are committed you need to be committed. I understand other universities aren’t as faithful as ND but don’t hold that against our staff.

I also understand that some of these recruits might not of have the offers they have now from other teams. If you really wanted a Penn State offer and got it late, then you go on an unofficial visit and it made you really question if you wanted to go to the school you were committed too de commit. Tell the coach looked I always wanted this offer and I got it. The visit really made me think about my options.

I'll never understand our inability to parlay Kyle Hamilton and his success at ND to subsequent talent at the position. It's absolutely beyond me. And please spare me the Brandon Joseph comments - he was pedestrian by any measure.

Irishnd31 pays to have other things blown up his ass, but that’s a story for another time
Worth every penny…..

Only downside is Rack Em can’t hold the damn camera steady enough while all this is going on. Plus the way he sweats while watching and that whole lip licking thing is very off putting.

Boomer Sooner coming to take his victory lap in 3,2,1....
Similar thing happened at OU this year with Colton Vasek. Vasek was committed but kept going to Texas Longhorn football games. We knew it was a matter of when not if he de-committed.

I guess the counterpoint is that he walked in and was great from day one (literally, of practice). He would have worked out anywhere.

What do you mean by this? Wouldn't Bowen have wanted to see Joseph play well? Bowen looks a lot more like Joseph than Hamilton on the hoof.

I understand Hamilton was great and would have been anywhere. But he was here and we couldn't capitalize on it beyond 2.5 season of his excellent play.

My point about Joseph is that I was simply heading off any arguments that we were able to parlay Hamilton's success into landing Joseph.

I highly doubt that happened especially considering it's been reported he still talks with the guys in this class and place video games with them
The beat is reporting that who work in sync with our staff. You can't really believe everything you read.

sorry you don't like what i said but i'm just telling what i've heard and read over the past year when it comes to his recruitment. don't know why you would be surprised to hear about a parent controlling a kid's recruitment because it happens all the time
Nothing to do with that. Mom doesn't control this one or why all the visits? Actions over words always wins.

Yeah. Pete ripped into Manti a bit when Te’o broke the news to Carroll on NSD that he was going to ND instead of SC.

Momma bear took the phone and, in her own words, told him to f*** off.

I think it was talked about in the documentary.

I like Freeman's in home visit being on the last day before the dead period, with Bowen sticking with his commitment this long hopefully Freeman can close this one out.

Knowing that Momma Bowen is in our corner, I hope Freeman kills her with kindness.

You really trust OU not to continue contact past that?

Can we crowd fund a duffel bag for Marcus to bring with? Feel like we could get a nice turnout here.

Not really much of a question, hasn’t been that he’ll decommit. Just a matter of when. As soon as he still wasn’t firm after Clemson I accepted its over and probably been over for months. Hope he at least has the balls to do it to Freeman’s face in the last in home. All been building to that.
This is where I’m at. I thought the atmosphere at the Clemson game would cinch it. He may truly be torn which I think favors OU due to proximity. I’m sure he‘s confident he can start at either school as a freshman so that’s probably a push. OU had a horrible season on the field but it was year one for Venables & he’s a seasoned recruiter.

Last day for in home visits is Friday. Freeman has his in home visit Thursday

So either news breaks today Venables is visiting today or Bowen scheduled another HC to be his last in home visit
And Loy said earlier he heard some rumblings about Venables going in on Friday. Wouldn’t be a good sign.

How is this kid not a 5 star? He looked like the equivalent to Mayer vs HS kids, as far as more talent goes, in his highlights this year.

Unfortunately it is probably the Bowens who made the call to have Freeman Thursday and Venables Friday.
