First of all son, it's not tears. It's just OU fans being honest and keeping it real about WHY this season has been a total disaster. Nobody is sad that Riley is gone because he was way too soft. We were going nowhere and getting there fast with him. And we know we hired a coach that can bring the swagger back when he's actually had time to get a system in place. And also, Caleb is a turd and everybody knows it. We're just making sure people are aware of it, and by now the smart ones certainly are.

How many people outside of southern California do you think were actually rooting for sc against Utah? Exactly! And do you know why that is? Its because everybody knows they're a couple of fruitcakes and total fakes. Caleb can play no doubt, but he's soft just like Riley. We'll take Venables and Jackson Arnold any day over those fairies.

So like I said, it's not tears. We just tell the truth. We're gonna end up much better when the smoke clears.
What is your favorite salsa recipe?

Crimson and Cream sounds like a fetish porn.
Well, they did lure Caleb originally and he's got that feet thing going on.

It’s easily one of the worst coaching jobs in college ball. He took a perennial playoff contender and turned it into a barely bowl eligible 6 win team. Oklahoma hasn’t won 6 games or less since 1998. That is what failure looks like. And now you head to the SEC where they play real football.

That's right! We're going to the SEC, somewhere you guys would never go. If they even mentioned that they might be thinking about inviting ND, you guys would crap your pants and say "oh lord, Jesus christ! God no! We don't want no part of it" Everybody knows that's how it would go down. 😆

Oh yeah. I forgot. That's the year you guys won the super bowl. The guys probably still have boners and the girls are still wet, because you beat OU. It was like a dream come true. Of course, you got it rammed right back in your face the next year. We brought you right back down to Earth like you were Oklahoma state. 😂

Ok, I’m pretty sure this is Brian Bosworth and he’s back on the drugs.

I agree. My work is done. I got curbstomped like it was nobody's business.

We'll see what happens with Bowen but hopefully by now he's seen the light and realized that coming to OU with his boy Jackson to be a part of the future and play on the biggest stage in the premier conference would be much better than doing the little Irish a favor. 🤞

Okay boys. We'll just see what happens. OU went 6-6 this year and yet we're still talked about more than Notre Dame. That's gotta hurt. Hell, ya'll haven't really been considered relevant since Dr. Lou was the coach.
Losers on the field so you try to be a winner on the message boards. But seriously, do you put pineapple on pizza?

Still didn't address my point about how you claim the talent on OU isn't good enough, yet they're somehow in the top 10 in talent composite, yet lost to teams in the 30s, 40s and even 70s in that regard.

IMO OU legitimately could have won the national title this year if Lincoln Riley didn’t leave and their top talent didn’t flee. Their talent level across the team had risen to a place where they were right behind OSU / Bama / UGA / Clemson and QB play (Caleb W.) could have certainly pushed them over the top in a down year.

Now OU will sink into mediocrity, with 8-4 to 9-3 seasons being the norm once they move to the SEC.

Riley was only good at recruiting offensive players. The defensive talent was horrendous. His system was way too soft and his gameplan was the same every week...let the QB carry the team and see how far we go. He's trying to do the same thing at sc and you saw where it got em. You saw how sloppy we were last year. He'd be 4-8 if he had to coach THIS OU team. Going to the SEC with him as the coach was gonna be a total disaster and everybody knew it.

Venables knows exactly what it takes to compete at that level but people wanna act like he's failing because he had such a rough first year while trying to change the culture with a bunch of kids that he didn't even recruit. It's one thing to transition from one system to a another one that is built on the same principles and philosophies. It's a completely different deal trying to go from a soft weak system to one built on swagger. If you don't have the horses you can't do that and unfortunately he only had ponies out there this year.

He deserves the time that is required to give one of the premier programs in college football the makeover that it so badly needs. Some of you simply don't know football. Sorry but it's true.

I'll try and give Oklahoma some credit for this season. They ended the season with losses to Baylor, Texas Tech & West Virginia by a combined nine points, but have one win against a team with a winning record, which happened to be Oklahoma State. Oklahoma State faltered during the second half of the season, finishing 7-5 after starting 6-1. You can't fault them too much for that, as thats the schedule they ended up having for this season.

You are a Sooners fan, so obviously you can speak more in-depth about the team, the players, what went wrong etc. But, you are not fielding a team of scrubs. Oklahoma has always been a team that recruits well, the rankings will attest to that, so it's not a roster without talent- even with some transfers. You lost some great players, which is the nature of the sport, as it happens to the best of teams year after year. It's hard to win anything without some sort of talent at QB, especially in the Big-12 where defense has always been an optional component to success. You brought in Dillon Gabriel, who's a pretty solid QB in his own right, but unfortunately he suffered a nasty concussion from a brutal hit, and missed some games.

Oklahoma wasn't able to put it together this year. But, at a certain point, you can't put the season only on the players. It's up to the coaches to use what they have to attain success. Some great coaches have done better with less at lesser programs in their first year. You do have a near Top 5 recruiting class coming in,

Perhaps next season may change, but keep in mind, Arnold Jackson will be a true freshman, so it's best to tamper your expectations for a year. It's not common for a true freshman to come in and take over the college landscape, re-write the program's trajectory, and become a superstar. It happens, but only a smaller percentage - even with five star QBs.

Now, obviously you are here to do some minor trolling about Peyton Bowen. At this point, I feel that of us ND fans who follow recruiting, believe it's split - half think he will flip, half don't. Oklahoma has been trying since the spring to make it happen, so if anything, you got to applaud the persistence. Oklahoma has some things in the favour - distance from home, GF attending OU etc., but you guys literally pitched him a substantial NIL package, as a few of my fellow posters have brought up, which you have yet to address. Your last resort is "well, shit.... let's just write you a big enough cheque."

To point out one final thing. This a ND board. Obviously. But we do have posters that follow other teams that are a part of the community on IrishEnvy. There's even a Bama fan on here that doesn't troll, who adds quality posts, and has been a valued member for years. But, something tells me you are here for Bowen, and Bowen only. Maybe you stick around, but I have a suspicion it will be when Oklahoma is trying to poach a ND commit.

On Sunday mornings I sit at church while everyone else is singing hymns & I start to wonder what the hell did I post the night before?
Then I get home & check & it’s even worse than I imagined.
It’s like the end of the Hangover when they are looking at the pictures from the previous night…
I usually run Saturday morning then grapple from noon until two. About 2:30 the scotch starts going down & im already dehydrated as it is. So around 6-7 it’s scorched earth time. No conscience. No effs given.
No prisoners.
You don’t have to sell me. I’m all in on Fireside Chat w/Reaper thread.

I live in the area of Tennessee that was formerly the Cherokee nation. There is a lot of history here about the Trail of Tears. The reason they called it that wasn’t for the arduous journey but the fact it ended in a shithole called Oklahoma. Maybe the worst thing the US government did to any indigenous people.

You were interesting to talk to for a minute until you started to get rude. We are always polite and respectful to new posters from other fan bases because we are Notre Dame fans and have class. Then when you started to get rude and ignore intelligent counterpoints, it started to go downhill. If you honestly had something intelligent to say, you would be welcomed here. However, your takes are horribly inaccurate. You are not speaking with any intelligence. You won't rile us up like you can other fan bases, we will just feel sorry for you and show you politely to the door. Good luck with your Sooners. I am sure the whole fan base isn't lacking in intelligence as much as you, so I won't hold it against them as a whole. Next time, on the next board, at least be accurate with your comments. You might earn some respect. Have a good day.

I'm grateful to have a tormented Oklahoma fan on the board. Their misery nearly rivals ours. They've been close, made it to the playoffs and then get KO'd by one of the big boys (much like us). Now they are joining a much tougher conference and he's got dat SEC pride baby!

Our season was, in large part, a pretty big failure aside from pummeling Clemson. We had a lead against tOSU in the 3rd and then couldn't generate points. We had some of the worst upsets we've seen against Marshall and Stanford. Those are tough to swallow while finishing 8-4

Meanwhile, Oklahoma had an even worse go of it. They went 6-6! 3-6 against the Big 12. Let's give this guy a little bit of grace. If we just had the Big 12 conference shit on our face, we'd be looking to troll a little more as well.

I mean, their OOC schedule was Missouri State, Kent State, UTEP all of which they won. That's half their wins. Now they get to play Florida State in a bowl game and I don't think it's going to go well.

God bless MJL1028, he's got a rough road ahead.

Don’t you have somewhere to be? Like jerking off at the thought of Skeletor being the second coming of Barry Switzer?

To be fair to our Arkansas Oklahoma fan, barring the big donor just deciding to do more than match, they are going to fall short of their NIL Collective goal.

Looking at the numbers, it appears that only 23% of the OU subscribers even donated. That's a committed fanbase.

Sorry man, but if you don't think having the right players to run your system matters then maybe you aren't as good at evaluating as you think. It all comes down to having the players. Saban, Kirby Smart, Dabo Swinney, and plenty of others will tell you the same thing. These kids that were out there don't have the instincts and the desire to consistently be great and that's not something you can just teach. When you see the progress OU starts making with the new guys, you'll understand what I'm talking about.
You do realize that most of these players weren't MF's recruits, right?

Why would ND join a conference? We already have our cake and can eat it too! As far as being relevant, if ND wasn't how did they manage to get their own National TV contract?

Do you mind sharing your age?
