He’s liking all the posts on twitter about him flipping to Oklahoma. Either a guy who truly loves the process or another Amorion Walker situation. Leaning the latter.

Also fall into the same camp of if he didn’t feel it after the Clemson game then it’s not worth worrying about.

Yep. I think he flips because that’s generally what happens these days. But I hope he stays.

I do think you should leave once you know, however, as it sucks to burn your second choice and not give them time to hop in on someone.

If you want ND to bridge the talent gap, you're gonna have to deal with annoying and stressful recruitments like this. That's the reality of recruiting prospects of this caliber, and it'll only get worse in the NIL era. BK would've said "Fuck this" a long time ago and settled for a three star. Freeman refuses to do that and we all love him for it. Let him worry about it, that's his job.

That’s my point lol. Again dead right or dead wrong. If he flips we are going to place him with Walker. If he doesn’t, obviously not.
Didn’t walker give ND the silent treatment though. Stopped communicating so it was obvious whereas Bowen is still saying very positive things about ND.

I think he sticks with ND. ND has a better degree, they play on a national stage, they have had more success with safeties going into the NFL and their defense is a lot better. He’s just enjoying the process a win over a Oklahoma State team where they still gave up 500 yards with a QB that had a bum shoulder ain’t gonna change things

Apparently his family is getting pretty upset by the amount of shitty DMs Irish fans are sending them.

I know I know... but damnit. Why are fans such awful people sometimes?
Where are you seeing this at? Fans have been saying stuff for a while now ever since he kept going on visits I’m sure Oklahoma fans have been doing the same

I get that the recruits and their families are on social media just like any other family but why in gods name would any fan just randomly message them?

I can she liking a photo but messaging them is just dumb.

Let’s be honest though this recruitment has been a roller coaster ride for a while now. Like Dale said someone is gonna be right and someone is gonna be wrong. Is that because the families were giving them bad info or just not being truthful. I guess we shall find out soon.

I think this is now in the “prepare for the worst and hope for the best” situation unfortunately. It’s hard to say no to so many pro-OU forces around him with his high school coaches, Jackson Arnold, gf is going there and his dad seems to be at least intrigued by NIL.

If Freeman and Co. are able to close this they will deserve major props for the reasons stated above.

In the end, who knows though because I was pretty steadfast about Keeley sticking because of ND forces around him and we see how that ended. Would be incredibly painful to lose the top two commits for opposite surrounding forces. ND football will survive but man this kid is really, really good and could be a Day 1 starter.

The idea that the school’s entire fan base has to be well-adjusted, normal human beings would disqualify every school automatically. It’s an impossible standard that gives power to the silliest people.

I can guarantee Oklahoma has their share of crazies. You don’t think they’d come out of their holes if the situation was reversed?

And I can also guarantee that ND has exceptionally well-behaved fans compared to anyone. This is almost universally acknowledged by opposing fanbases.

And how on Earth would you know that you aren’t dealing with a false flag? Social media is full of that stuff. My college may offer a kid a bag full of money, or hook him up with female students, but it would NEVER pretend to be an opposing fan and say rude stuff to get him to flip. That would be dishonorable, good sir! For shame!

Who was the last kid that it came down to Oklahoma and ND to the end? Caleb Kelly? Kelly didn't even make it in the NFL not sure why but no idea what he currently is doing. Also ND has had a better track record for safeties getting to the NFL as of late.

Back to back ACL tears and then a third knee injury.

I think Bowen stays. Why in the world would you go to Oklahoma when you could go to ND. Oklahoma is a hot mess and gonna be irrelevant in the SEC. I understand Arnold and his gf going there might lure him, but he will make new friends at ND. You gotta make a 40 year decision here and not a 4 year one. You gotta set yourself up for the future. Go to the place that will make you a better man.

I don't think ND's track record for defensive backs is really something you can hang your hat on, if you go back over the last decade. Hamilton was a great player, and is recent and fresh in the minds of both fans and recruits, but he's predominantly an outlier. ND has only had four safeties drafted in the last ten years, five if you include Julian Love, who transitioned over after his first or second season in the pros.

It does help your argument that Oklahoma does not have many safeties in the NFL, and those that are, are not household names. The only one I can think of is Tony Jefferson, who was undrafted about nine or ten years ago.

95% of the time, a great player will always find his way to the NFL, regardless of which school or which coach he played for. I don't believe Bowen is looking at the NFL success of safeties from each school - if that were the case, he would have looked more at Alabama, LSU, Georgia & Ohio State.

It is either that he wants to stay closer to home, or spend three to four years in South Bend. Coupled that with NIL oppourtunities and/or guarantees, his decision will come down to what he believes to be the best fit.

He can still make it to the NFL playing at OU and NIL. I’m assuming this last pitch to him and dad included a lot about NIL. Just weird for OU reporters to say prior to the visit OU wanted to lay out the plans for Peyton to his dad, considering they’ve had a long time to do so.

At the end of the day there is a reason why he has stuck with ND this long. Arnolds been committed to Oklahoma for a while now and his GF has been looking at Oklahoma soccer for longer than 2 months. Why not decommit a while ago if this was the case? Something is keeping him here and I don't see anything that has changed.

High profile? Maybe Caleb Kelly

It's somewhat ironic, but the last recruit we lost to Oklahoma was Prentice McKinney, a safety, in 2015. And further back, Bennett Okotcha in 2011.

Neither did shit in college, and were not higher profile like Bowen. But still... we have lost DBs to Oklahoma in the past.

This dude is a day-one starter, and would be a day-one kick/punt returner if it weren't for Edwards and Love both being in the class, too.

If he flips, it's gonna hurt. Shuler is nice and Minich might have speed that is close to elite... but Bowen is built different. He immediately gives ND zero worries for half of the back end (and half of the entire field if he's behind Morrison). You have an elite secondary for three years with this kid signed up.

Someone better be opening that fucking checkbook*.

(*Peyton better wake up one day with the realization that mom is always right lol)

It's been proven time and time again that a good chunk of that stuff comes from opposing fan bases. OU fans putting a fake account together.

Guarantee you that's at least partially the case here. They are pulling out all the stops/desperation mode.

As much crap as some give Driskell on the board, he did warn us last week about this exact situation.

Irish Breakdown on Bowen
"The kids haven’t wavered. Peyton Bowen is an example, we hear CONSTANT stuff about him flipping, but Bowen, his family and his high school coaches have been adamant from day one he’s going to Notre Dame in their conversations with Notre Dame and other schools, but the schools relay a completely different message to media folks, and those media folks go and relay what they are told without doing any actual research. That’s how you get reports from On3 and 247Sports that Jeremiyah Love is leaning towards Texas A&M the same day that Ryan is talking with Love and his dad about his commitment video with Irish Breakdown, since he had already committed to Notre Dame silently the week before. The industry has always been a bit shady, but it’s never been this bad. Y’all need to understand that as you look to buy into every single rumor that’s out there, and it’s only going to get worse going into signing day."

Save yourselves the stress and revisit this recruitment on signing day. Bowen isn't coming out publicly to shut things down so either he's going to flip, or you'll be wringing hands until he signs either way.
