I'd say he probably has the best NFL upside of any RB we've recruited in a long time. He's got that elite NFL upside. Two things those prospects need. The frame to add the necessary weight. And, the coveted homerun speed. Love's got both. 6'-6'1, can he get to 210 lbs. with 4.4 speed?
That guy for me was Price pre-injury. I pray dude comes back AP style and ready to go

I can see both. On pure athleticism Love is elite but I do hope to see more running back skills from him in his senior year. If he gets to the edge in open space he’s gone but I think Price far exceeds him skill wise between the tackles. Love gives me Etienne vibes.

Agreed. He should not have to carry the load either. Most backs don't today with the way offenses are designed. Still, I'd want to get him as many touches as possible. Especially in big moments.

I was an early member of the JD Price fan club and was on board with Jamie U’s first eval of him that had him ranked ahead of the industry rankings. Including one member of the “Big 3”. And, I think Price is the most complete back of the BK/Freeman era. He’s the real deal, no doubt about that.

But, I said most NFL upside because I believe Love’s frame, plus speed put him in a different tier of “NFL potential”. If I was drafting a team right now I’m taking Price. But if I’m projecting possible upside. Love has that 6’ frame and runs 4.4. That’s first RB off the board material. Price could be insanely productive and still not get that type of draft grade depending on how big he can get and runs.

Most overrated commodity for a RB IMO. We've had quite a few guys that wouldn't qualify as having HR speed, but could take it to the house once they hit that second level. On the other hand maybe your idea of home run speed isn't a 4.3?

We're talking about a program whose last first round draft pick at RB was Jerome Bettis. The last second rounder was Julius Jones. You have a guy with the vision, elusiveness and elite speed that's going to get you far even in today's pass happy offensive era.

I'll take the guy with elite speed. If he has some of the other intangibles RB scouts look for, great, but the elite breakaway speed is something Deland or any RB coach can't teach them to do. You can be taught how to block and route run. In the end, that natural ability to just get the ball and be gone is coveted and should be.

A guy with elite speed that breaks into the open field and can't be caught from behind is something I think the program has lacked for a very long time at RB.

This will be Tyree's year to shine. I think in ignoring Tyree on the national stage analysts are not giving weight to ND's improved O Line. They will create large holes and with Tyree's speed he will get crazy yards. All of which will take the heat off ND's passing game which is also a good thing.

I think with Love and Tyree and home run speed in the college game you can scheme them, especially with NDs o-line and a mobile QB, into homerun plays. It’d again comp Love to Etienne. We saw Etienne hit that home run against us in the ACC championship. But the hole was there in part due to Trevor’s run threat. Without the QB run threat we bottled him up. If Love can add a between the tackles component to his game he’s probably a legit 5 star RB. Without it, he can still be a huge weapon though with a power RB or dual threat QB compliment needed.

Tyree with Buchner should be night and day then with Coan.

I thought I made it clear in both posts but maybe not. Upside. Not production. I’m talking upside and in last years draft, the first two RB’s off the board we’re 210+ and ran below 4.4. In 2021 Harris ran 4.45 at 232 and Etienne a 4.4 at 215. So it’s pretty much a necessity if that’s what one aspires to be.

There are many qualities that can make for a very productive running back. If a guy can’t run between the tackles and do everything else, then yes, in a vacuum, that homerun speed is overrated. But, you are also not going top of board at RB without it.

I’m not arguing whether a guy can or cannot be very productive without it. That’s common sense. But it’s a necessity for the upside of the NFL draft.

He made the doak walker watch list....he certainly isn't being overlooked...he is by fans of other teams because well, he doesn't get that many touches but it's pretty obvious he is electric and efficient w/ the ball in his hands... hard to take touches away from kyren

And like Dale mentioned……Buchner’s run threat should really open up some field for Tyree this fall.

Seems like A&M may be trying to get him on campus for the Pool Party. Haven’t seen it confirmed though just some asking on the 247 site. Probably came from TexAgs (their version of ISD) or something

Louisville getting Reuben Owens could turn out to bite us if he goes to A&M. I think Love was A&Ms backup option there and Bama’s to Haynes. Bama got Haynes, A&M did not get Owens.

Seems like they just didnt think Sed was a scholarship worthy player regardless of other RB recruits IMO

This is key. You don't go circling back after you make the call. You accept that you might end up with a single RB which is more than enough with our current roster. Tyree could theoretically explode this year and leave but we'd still have 5 on the roster with Limar. If Tyree comes back we're at 6.

Love is the guy you take a shot at because he could be an absolute monster behind our lines but he has to make that decision.
