Am I wrong? He just seems like a kid that doesn't know where he wants to be. Seems like a flight risk where ever he goes. I think I have read enough recruiting thread to have an opinion. Lynch was probably a great dude and was a great athlete... just never really knew what he wanted or where he wanted to be.
It may not be the timeline we want or the coaches thought it would be, but it's still eight months from early signing day.

I think a lot of what gets construed as waffling is just him playing it close to the vest and observers trying to read tea leaves lurching from one thing to the next.

Aaron lived over 1000 miles away, had a gf there (that got pregnant) etc.
It's very different. Just not a super good comp.

Different reasons and life circumstances... sure... but when have we seen so much mixed messaging? These recruiting reporters send click bait for a living but they at least have some sort of grasp on where things are going or heading. This has sort of been one of the most bi-polar threads just in relation to whats reported, not even getting into all the IE poster stuff we all have fun with.

Loy said on the 247 message board, "I believe that Carr will reclassify, if he sees the value in doing that"

aka, if Rees and Freeman ask him to, he's going to do it.
I've convinced this is going to happen
It makes loads of sense for the following reasons…

1. We need a ‘24 QB
2. He’s 17
3. He will be far better when he gets the reigns with a year at ND than at Saline HS
4. He’s doing the coursework already
5. It opens the door for ‘24.
6. It gives us a very legit shot at a top 3 class with a 5 star QB in the mix
7. Momentum to finish ‘23 strong. You can sell 5 star QB to any reluctant receivers.
8. It takes even the slight chance that he ever changes his mind out of the equation and schools like Michigan will have to leave him alone.
9. More competition for Tyler and a legit backup in TBs last year.
10. He needs to beat out Angeli. 1 extra year will go a long ways.
This kids do whatever for the team mindset mixed with 5 star talent is going to make him one of our most popular QBs ever.

I'm starting to think that Dante Moore hasn't done what we all want him to do and it's making people bent out of shape.

I don't know. This is a big thread, I just got here and I haven't covered it all yet.
I confess that describes me a bit

The only negative is reclassifying hasn’t worked out well for anyone yet. Daniels was a fail and Ewell so far is a fail.

I think the difference with Carr reclassifying is that he would most likely have 2 years on campus before being a starter. Daniels started immediately and the jury is out on Ewers.

5-star QBs have a low hit rate even under the best circumstances. It would take a much larger sample size than 2 to argue that reclassification has an appreciable effect on anything.

I don’t know what Ewers netted via NIL in the end, but he basically got to put a foot in at OSU, realized that wouldn’t work regardless of his ability and then got to play free agency of Texas area football (and others) and pick the most advantageous spot.

I think that it’s easier said than done to keep that balanced perspective, because as ND fans, we want others to see what we see about the university and team. However, at the end of the day, everyone has their own path and Dante Moore is no different.

I refuse to be balanced...

I think any fan of any college sports team would agree this saga has been exhausting. Dante even thinks its been exhausting. Part of branding is controlling the narrative. I am not pretending to know anything more than anyone else but it just seems as much as there have been twists and turns, his heart is saying one thing, his wallet may be saying another... and his camp may be pushing a bit.

One big leadership quality is the ability to make a decision and commit to the decision. Sure there are other guys that have not committed but they have always seemed to and has been reported to just be on different timelines.

You could be, and very well might be, wrong.

The idea anyone here can be exhausted by this? Come on.

Bit harsh on the kid.

In way, I'm there too. I figured it would be done by now, but it isn't. They ponied up to give Freeman and Rees a lot of money to sort this out.
The idea that Dante is suddenly some kind of grifting dolt when in March he was the Golden Child (no pun) just seems like sanctimonious whining. My hope is ND still wants him and he still wants ND. Until we know both parties have gone separate ways, I'll wait it out. I think the juice is worth the squeeze, and frankly, they seem to only have one other option: the 2024 QB skipping a year of high school.

Post #3957. Only a handful of guys have this many posts in their threads, even star player kind of guys that have been through a whole ND career. There are only so many memes and jokes we can make before it’s time to get in the Carr and go home.

Like you said, you’re new here. Welcome to the party.

I am sort of banking my hopes on Carr reclassifying and getting another '24. Solves the roster management problem and keeps a kid that appears to be an Aaron Lynch type, but at the QB position, away another schools problem.
This post makes zero sense. Who are you trying to compare to Aaron Lynch??

Yes, you are wrong…completely wrong. Moore is going through the process just like the literally hundreds if not thousands of kids who have not committed anywhere in June before their senior year.

The only difference is he is a high profile recruit with a high profile recruitment and has not made his decision on the timeline that many on this board feel he owed to them for some reason.

Lynch got in multiple fist fights with his own teammates. I dont wanna bash a kid but Dante Moore is closer to Gunner Kiel (recruiting issues only im not getting into painkillers) than Lynch. Lynch was a girlfriends dog Lenny Rabbit pet moment away from being Shembo.

I'm 100% behind leading the charge in not talking shit about kids or their family's character when it comes to recruiting.

I also don't think its out of bounds to question how confident ND should feel even if he did commit at this point.

All the info right now shows the coaching staff felt really frustrated with what they were told and what his actions showed, which is why they pushed so hard for Carr to commit now. And why they're very excited about the idea of him reclassifying.

Again. I think its gross to question a kids morals or character during recruiting. It just might be time to move on because he may not be showing the same enthusiasm to ND as ND has for him

Anybody have any idea if Sayin is okay following Carr if he reclassifies? I don't remember if he said it's an issue following a five star or not.

Right. I absolutely LOVE all three of these kids. To get any two would be unbelievably awesome! Dante is a great kid. IMO, he is taking a lot of crap on here he doesn't deserve and we are better than. He's a high character kid. Dare I say, RKG.

Unless none of us ever changed their mind about a life changing decision when we were 16. Shoot, I was changing my mind about what cereal I had for breakfast at 16.
That being said, I think ND handled this situation GREAT. If he started having second thoughts, they had to absolutely keep recruiting the position hard. Can't wait forever for someone that is not completely sold. I think last staff did that too much and think we handled that extremely well this time so we aren't left with our pants down.

He only has himself to blame there.

i had not read this elsewhere but maybe I missed it but ISD is saying that Moore will visit Oregon again next weekend.

IMO. This is where he ends up if it isn't ND. Rooting for LSU if it isn't ND, but that QB room at LSU is really competitive. Their redshirt freshman really impressed me in the spring game and that isn't even counting the local 5* . Just think Dantes path to the field at LSU would be a lot more challenging. Don't know Oregons depth chart situation.
