I actually think the KEY TAKEAWAY from that, is that DANTE reached out to NOTRE DAME, to see where things stood......
Unless we turn him away (ie: going all-in on CJ Carr reclassifying), I think Dante winds up at ND. We should all want him at ND. He's a terrific talent and has a 4.0 GPA. We'd be lucky to have him.

Key takeaway = positive that Dante still has enough interest to know where he stands

Key takeaway = negative that nobody reached out to Dante, so Dante had to initiate the conversation.

Personally, I think that's more negative than positive.

At first glance, yes, but every Dante update from Loy contradicts the previous update. In this case, he later says that ND has been regularly contacting Dante too so I just don't think that's as big of a deal as it seems. Wanted to make sure he still has a spot if he wants it.

There is actually a pretty decent update from Loy. The short of it is ND is still recruiting him. Dante reached out to ND a few days later to see where things stood. ND hasn’t offered anyone else. Some still likely depends on CJ reclassification which hopefully is decided soon. But the key takeaway is they are not offering other QBs and are going to push for Moore if any 2023 QB

Lmao at this recruitment

I don’t completely trust the staff’s ability to read some recruitments.

It’s a new regime, so hopefully that changes.
Some members of the staff are clearly better at knowing when to cut your losses than others. With the importance he placed on recruiting, I trust that Marcus evaluates that going forward.

Seems like they prefer CJ reclassify and move on to 2024 to me. They'd have shown more urgency with reaching out to other 2023 QBs if that wasnt the case.

While not trying to irritate the board, I am hoping that we sign Dante Moore BUT IF WE DON'T, that he signs with Coach Kelly.

Why? Because I believe that Dante can be an exceptional quarterback and that he could help LSU beat Alabama. In my opinion, ANY DEFEATS which can be delivered to Alabama (by anyone) are good for NCAA football. If LSU, GA, even A&M can defeat Alabama, giving them two or more defeats per year, it might ultimately break Alabama's dominance on the stockpiling of talent. It is my opinion that Alabama has diminished the fan value of NCAA football for many years. It is not good for anything to have even talented amateurs always playing for second place. Dabo Swinney was great in this sense for football. LSU has recently proved that they can also do this.
If Josh Allen and Jennie Finch had a baby and let Tom Brady raise him, Brian Kelly would still not give him meaningful reps until he was a junior.

But Beat Bama, for sure.

It was posted somewhere that Dante knew CJ was coming to ND for a while now, so why would that change anything in his recruitment? Whether he silently comitted to ND or not he knew before then that CJ was coming here.

Even if it isn’t Dante, it is *critically* important that they get a QB in 2023. It’s a roster management failure to think otherwise.
Right? If only there was this thing called a transfer portal where you could grab a player who was transferring from another program, who could then play for your team to help fill voids in positional depth otherwise missed in recruiting. That would be neat. Oh well....

I strongly agree. It is also increasingly rare that quarterback get through an entire season uninjured.

Of course. But there are probably 15 quarterbacks currently committed to P5 schools who would flip to Notre Dame in a heartbeat if Tommy Rees called them up and talked sweet. They won't be five-stars, but they'll be decent. Probably just as good a recruit as Book or Coan or Angeli.
We've got a little time here to figure out what Moore wants and whether Carr can really reclassify. Hopefully that all clarifies by, say, Labor Day, and then if need be you get to flipping kids.

If you don’t think it’s important to get a QB this cycle, I legitimately don’t know what to tell you. Marcus himself said it was job #1, so take it up with him.

I am sort of banking my hopes on Carr reclassifying and getting another '24. Solves the roster management problem and keeps a kid that appears to be an Aaron Lynch type, but at the QB position, away another schools problem.

I guess if you wanted something posted in this thread you haven't seen before, there's this.

I think the staff has Carr reclassifying in their back pockets. Allows them to keep pushing for Moore and if he ends up elsewhere they tell Carr they want him for 2023.

Am I wrong? He just seems like a kid that doesn't know where he wants to be. Seems like a flight risk where ever he goes. I think I have read enough recruiting thread to have an opinion. Lynch was probably a great dude and was a great athlete... just never really knew what he wanted or where he wanted to be.

Aaron lived over 1000 miles away, had a gf there (that got pregnant) etc.
It's very different. Just not a super good comp.
