I guess I just don't understand how they can explicitly put that into some kind of NIL agreement when we've all been told that a NIL deal can't require attendance to a certain school. Is everyone just taking an attitude of "just try to stop us" and creating their own rules knowing that nobody is going to hold anyone accountable to the stated rules?
It's possible to make an agreement which accomplishes the same thing without directly requiring it. E.g., something that's functionally impossible to fulfill unless they are living in the area.

I probably phrased it poorly. Maybe I should have said "if the kid leaves" instead of "allows the kid to leave". As Pops said, it won't be tied specifically to a school but the language will have something that accomplishes the same thing. Could be as simple as the contract holder can cancel at anytime?

Every Irish fan who had their knuckles cyber whacked every time they uttered something about NIL money being a factor with Dante Moore in a chat or on a message board deserves an apology. Some folks called this when April went by. I'm sure he's a great kid. But if the guaranteed money for 5* quarterbacks is 1/2 what's being rumored any parent or advisor would be derelict not to explore options. And a kid would be foolish to turn it down,

Fortunately the Irish coaching staff wasn't as clueless as back when Weis wouldn't drop WR Greg Little who a regular at UNC basketball games. I'll barf if its LSU or Michigan but whatever. I'm stunned that a kid that hadn't been on the ND campus since late March and who blew off a scheduled visit on one of the marquee recruiting weekends in June could be miffed at CJ Carr's verbal.

Could we remove this thread from the front page? It has become Moore distracting then the politics threads to ND Football. ;)

Well, CJ is a 5 star and I don't think he's foolish. Likely it's not that you cannot make plenty of money at ND and more that Dante can't make up his mind like many recruits. Michigan and LSU aren't exactly having any luck getting him to commit either up to this point. I think he's rather indecisive to be honest. I like CJ's decisive attitude and let's go recruit mentality. There's a very real possibility we will find out that CJ is reclassifying and ND stopped pushing (as hard) for Dante.

Haven’t been on much today so not sure if it’s been covered but Brian Perroni of Aggie247 thinks LSU leads going into his A&M OV.

Wouldn’t that be some shit if BK finally goes from so many qb issues to back to back 5 stars

We all know the story....QB will play progressively better in year 1 as a starter and everyone will pat BK on the back. Year 2 shows no improvement and whispers of a "competition" emerge. By year 3 the talk will be about "limitations" on QB skill set and how the next QB will be different.

So Wiltfong is his whiparound said that Oregon is now "in the best position to land" Moore now. This recruitment has been amazing.

Best possible outcome if it can’t be ND IMO
I'd pay buku bucks to find out what actually happened in this recruitment from the week before CJs commitment until now. My arm chair analysis says the ND staff tried to use Carr reclassifying to the 23 class to try and get Moore to commit now. His camp didn't like it and now ND has to claw back into this recruitment if they want to. Nutty how fast this changed.

What a wild swing in the recruitment to go from essentially silently committing to ND in the spring to not even setting up a return visit OV. His visit to Oregon didn’t seem to give that staff much hope so they instantly offered new qb’s and he literally went on record saying he didn’t like how long it took to get there. Now they’re the front runner?

This was all starting to happen before the Carr commitment and everyone knew it was Carr or Sayin in 2024 anyway so I doubt that has anything to do with this.

This is the part I'd disagree with. All of this "feel" for Moore's recruitment and how "ND has lead" has to be coming from either 1. Moore's camp 2. People around his camp or 3. The ND staff. As people say, look at the actions, not the talk. And the only action that has happened recently in his recruitment was taking CJ's commitment. And off of that action, Moore's leader has changed. Hence why I'm beating the "ND used a potential CJ reclassification" drum as why things have changed. Someone in of those 3 information sources I mentioned earlier has had a change of heart recently. And taking CJ's commitment seems to have sparked it IMO.

Once they knew they had Carr they probably didn't care much at that point. Buchner should work out fine for the next two years in theory, and if not we should do well with either Pyne or Angeli if the OL is going to be improved and the WR talent upgraded. Moore at this point isn't really necessary. I'm sure they'd still take him if he wants in. Even if we were supposedly leading I'm sure they started to question the timetable and the NIL talk, so rather than letting him keep all the leverage they decided to take an insurance policy. A very good insurance policy.

It would be stupid to stop recruiting Dante and it would go against what MF has been preaching: talent acquisition. Just because they have a stud at a certain position in one class doesn’t mean they’ll give up on trying to add another stud at the same position in another class.

My guess is Loy and Driskell are correct in that ND will still recruit Dante, as they should.

You are nuts if you think Dante is now unnecessary. An elite QB is NECESSARY in just about every recruiting class.

Carr like any HS QB is not a sure thing to become an elite college QB, and no way you can go Angeli, skip, then a miss on Carr if that were to happen and basically not uave anything else on tap…not if you want to win chanpionships.

It is ALWAYS take all the elite QBs you can and play the odds that one becomes who yoi hope he will. This mindset is similar to get dumped by the hot girl then telling everybody its ok you didnt like her anyhow.

But that's the staffs fault when they still had options and decided to go all in on Moore.
