I love that ND got Carr but the program needs to add elite or close to elite talent every year. Getting just Carr just isn't good enough. I'm not saying he's not good enough, he is. The kid is an elite talent but we need more, more, more.
I just don't get the crowd that wants to drop Moore, the man that the program put all there eggs in one basket for. It makes no sense to stop because they got a stud in the following class.
Dante might have lost his leverage for ND to wait for him and/or be the exclusive QB recruited for the '23 class but he's a stud and if god forbid if Tyler Buchner isn't what we think he's going to be, we are going to want a Top 10 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐QB to be in South Bend and ready to play as a true Freshmen.
A Dante commit with Carr in the fold might have lost a little of the shine that he would have received because the story will be different now, however he still could/would control the narrative over Carr.
What I mean by this is that if Dante commits to ND and is here a year earlier than Carr it will obviously give him the upper hand in being the next QB or if Buckner isn't the one to take ND to the next step and the so-called Savior of the program. The point is if Dante commits to ND now the narrative actually works in his favor with him being a class ahead it puts the pressure on if Carr's love of the program is true as we hope it is or is it just a easier path and great opportunity that he took.
I want both, plain and simply. I want to be über optimistic on the ND QB situation and see Buchner be so good that he goes pro after year 3 and during that time ND is blowing out teams that would allow Dante to get PT as a Freshman that allows him to hit the ground running as a Sophomore. From there Dante lights it up his Sophomore and Junior seasons which in turn like under Buchner allows Dante to leave early while and PT for Carr so he ready to go as Dante moves on.
This is the ideal situation IMO. This would not only give ND great QB play but great PR for the program but it would give them the track record to make recruiting a little easier.
I want to see ND QB recruiting to look like Clemson, tOSU and OU/USC with string of Top QB recruits almost every year. It's a numbers game and more talent is going to give you a better chance to have a stud QB. I know that's a no duh but some are going to bust, some will get hurt. Others will be studs stuck behind a fellow stud and some will stay while others transfer out but this is the best way to assure that you replace one stud with another.
Just going back to Clemson getting Trevor Lawrence they have got a ⭐⭐⭐⭐ ⭐ QB 4 out last 6 classes.
D.J. Uiagalelei is a talent but he might be missing that something but if he doesn't live up to his talents then they have 5 star Cade Klubnik ready for his chance. In a year they will have 5 star Christopher Vizzina available. After that they will most likely get another stud QB in '24 with 5 star QB's DJ Latest or Jaydin Davis being the most likely at this point.
Let's get stud QB talents year in and year out and let the chips fall where they may. Play no favorites just get them it will work itself out while getting great play year after year.
