Is that OSU territory or ND?
OSU, grew up a Buckeye fan. Find in notable not really from a worry about OSU perspective as much as he likely doesn’t have at least much of a fan affinity for Michigan/Sparty. Just local pressures still.

No, wait, some guy on Reddit said that Moore grew up an tOSU fan, so I guess that means signed, sealed, and delivered for Bucknuts.
As I said, I didn’t post it to say he’s going to OSU. It was more to add color to possibly leaving Michigan and going out of state.

In short, OSU does not view him as a must have. They are slow playing Dante because they like Nico, Lonergan and Holstein (trying to flip) more. Several UM insiders view this as a UM vs OSU battle. I think it's MSU vs ND with ND winning in the end. His relationships with Coach Rees in particular but Coach Freeman also, is very strong.

Sure, it just seems like idle speculation as the schools mentioned from people that have spoken with him have always been UM, MSU, and ND. Only recently has Miami come into play. Everyone else has been in the also-ran category like tOSU and Oregon (until they're not of course like Miami).

Again I never even speculated anything about Ohio St haha. Most above didn’t either. Just talking about the great city of Cleveland and that he’s not completely born and raised in Detroit

My bad, I read it differently.

Of all the QBs we are recruiting, he's most natural looking passer with the best mechanics that I've watched. I love how he brings the ball straight back, instead of winding up by bringing it down, and fires while rotating his hips through the pass. You can tell that he's watched a lot of film and practiced throwing the right way.

ND has consistently been in his top group, and Freeman getting promoted was an added boost to the recruitment.

No date set, but based on where he's at in the process of comparing schools, it wouldn't be a shock to see a decision come relatively soon.

That lines up well with him committing to ND and then decommitting in November. Book it.

I think he's way more likely to leave for an NFL OC job next year than he is for a college HC job. And with early signing day, that would have Moore signed already.🤷‍♂️
So last year it was Rees sucks as a OC with the playcalling and now he is the next hot thing? Which is it? Suck or the bomb?

With ND fans, it's always "all of the above"

We're happy until we're not. Rees is a dunce while he's here, but he's too good to lose if he's got other opportunities. Etc.

With Rees and Moore, it could be a chicken and an egg scenario where if Rees stays he gives himself a better chance of landing Moore. If he lands Moore he’s more likely to stay if he sees a Natty chance in sight. Now if a job that’s too good to pass up comes it doesn’t matter (good P5 HC or NFL OC) but it could help fend off moves like a Miami OC or less desirable offers.

I almost feel like this should be part of the sales pitch. "Hey, Dante. It is Coach Freeman. I am going to work to build the relationship with you as well, since, if you do what we think you are capable of doing, we will win a National Championship with you, which will put Coach Rees on the fast track to a HC position. So, you may really like him, but if he is not here all of your years, that may be a very good thing!!"

99.9% chance Rees is onto his next opportunity after the 2022 season.

I still think he ends up at ND (we're still hearing that ND is "trending" from insiders, though noone has said leading yet) but I was surprised at how excited he seemed about Miami. Then I remembered that he just went down there for a camp in the middle of winter and a week or two more away will probably be useful perspective.

When was the last time ND had an OC last for more than 3 years on the job?
When was the last time we had a OC have upwards mobility though? Denbrock and Long were both not fired but not retained/let go/encouraged elsewhere whatever you want to describe it as. Martin wanted to be a HC and went to a MAC school, Sanford to WKU. There are way more opportunities when going down the competitive latter rather than up, which is what Rees will be striving for.

I like Tommy Rees.
I appreciate what he did at QB when Crist got hurt.
I appreciate that he is a brother alum.
I appreciated that he stayed and did not leave with Kelly.
I appreciate his pedigree.

Notwithstanding, I have NO confidence that he knows what the hell he is doing recruiting and SIGNING quarterbacks.

And if my name were Marcus Freeman, I would have Tommy Rees, who I like, on a very, very short leash.

"Aw shucks" and "nice guy" doesn't guarantee a playoff caliber quarterback.

Tick tock Tick tock.

Literally no one cares.
It’s a very great thing you aren’t Marcus Freeman & have zero say in anything important in life.
