Update from Trieu on 247 today recapping recent visits. Definitely had the most positive comments about ND IMO. Oregon he started by saying how tough it is to get there from Detroit with having to connect in Salt Lake City.

Expect a decision after officials, but left it open to drag on longer. 😑

I’m still holding out hope that we see something in the spring and the talk is talk but that is seemingly becoming less and less likely. Once he actually schedules an OV elsewhere and they are further out in time I think we can officially enter they fucked this one up territory, Moore landing at ND or not in the end.

Time to get CV back on campus, and move on.

I am guessing his LSU, UCLA, Texas A&M, and Miami for his officials with ND getting the last one.

It doesn't make sense for a 5 star QB to take themselves off the market without hearing all offers on the table. Nico just got $8m. Dante probably thinks he should get just as much.

As of now California, NJ, NY, Utah, Nebraska, and Kansas allow high schoolers to make NIL deals. That's not to say shadier than usual business won't take place, but that is what allowed the Nico deal in the first place.

I agree. He may end up the #1 QB in the class. That said, he sure as fuck ain't getting it from ND.

Unless Dante wants to move to California (or maybe a few others can’t keep track), I don’t believe he can sign the same type of NIL deal as Nico.

EDIT: What ND23 said

100% agree, that is the problem. ND can't/won't offer him a bag like other places, so it is pointless to keep going down this road. The juice isn't worth the squeeze. Until ND decides they want to be competitive in this market I have a hard time thinking ND won't slowly slide back to a place they were in, in the Mid 90's. It is what it is, we are who we are. We can't just get anyone in the transfer portal, we won't outright pay kids like A&M, TN ect. It isn't a level playing field.

I love ND, and all it stands for, but we are set in our ways and stubborn. The world is changing, we just don't want to or are unwilling to keep up, yet somehow pretend that we want to be relevant on the NATL scene. Same as scheduling a FCS team. I don't mind it, and think it is pretty cool, all the other big names do it. Our argument was yeah, we don't play the 13th game like conference schools, but we play the same number for FBS teams. Now that is out the window.

I know I sound bitter, I am not, I am trying to be rational and realistic with todays landscape.

Counterpoint: ND has the number 1 class now and despite some taking visits, all seem pretty solid besides Bowen. They'll be adding a top 100 player in Braylon James in the coming days. Maybe ND won't be signing a top 3 class in the NIL era, but I'd bet pretty good money that Freeman and co's recruiting prowess will keep these classes in the top 10 regardless of how ND approaches NIL.

Maybe, and I hope you are right. If ND stays in the Top 10 classes, that would be great, same/similar to a lot of BKs classes. Just ND will have to work 10X harder then BK did to keep this same level.

I thought Nico was going to Tennessee?

It means the staff (presumably) cancelled Vizzina's visit thinking they more or less had Dante's commitment in the bag.

Narrator: They didn't.
I mean if he commits to ND in June or July he's still committing to ND lol. What does it matter?

It's confusing because Moore has always said from the beginning he would take OV's so it shouldn't be surprising.

I think the staff is willing to wait and not just take a lesser QB like Kelly would.

Offensive recruiting momentum matters. QB is THE single most important position to get on board early because often times additional offensive talent follows the elite QBs. We could miss out on some difference makers the longer Moore waits to make his decision. The Moore/Vizzina thing is quickly becoming (assuming it's not too late) a bird-in-hand situation.

Idk about moving on from Moore over an extra 2.5 months to the time table, especially if they still feel like they're in the driver's seat.

He wants to make a decision prior to his season, which would mean mid-July at the latest (as long as he means 'before camp' when he says by his season, and not 'first game').

Even if ND expected an April decision, they're only losing 2-3 months if he makes a summer decision, and if he DOESN'T pick ND in the end after the delays, the extra time wasn't going to help them with another highly-rated guy like CV anyway, at least IMO.

If he picks ND after a delay, he still has 5 months to recruit some pass catchers.
If he picks someone else after a delay, ND has 5 months to find a 3-star guy to bridge the gap to Sayin/Carr/???

Yeah I'm not at all convinced that landing Dante Moore 8 weeks from now rather than today hurts our recruiting momentum lol.
