I feel like the recruitment of carnell tate is a huge waste of time. kid is never going to ND, reminds me of Demetrius Robertson from back in the day

In a sense, in hindsight that is, isn't all recruitment a waste of time if a player doesn't come to your school?

Tate has ties to the midwest. He is about his brand, a lot of kids are right now. It'll help with NIL. He is going to do what he can to get attention, plain and simple. It is what it is.

Recruiting in general is a phenomenal waste of time. Would drive me insane, if I were an assistant coach at a big-time college football program, to have to endlessly pursue these high school hotshots (at the expense of time spent developing my actual current players, or, like, with my family), most of whom I will not ultimately land. It's why a lot of coaches go to the NFL and never come back.
But it's also the lifeblood of your program. So...

As for Tate, say what you will about the kid but we should be in on every elite recruit from Chicago who displays any interest at all. You pursue them until they say no. That's our backyard.

I remember when there was a lot of hype that Arrelious Benn, Marc Tyler, and other recruits would pop when Jimmy Clausen committed in person at the HOF.

Hopefully there is an actual domino effect here.

Tbh the NIL value of being the quarterback at the Lady of the Lake is basically as high as it gets. How much money would Brady Quinn have made? My mom still talks about the "prettyboy" QB from fifteen years ago and recognizes him on the TV during the pregame and halftime shows. And my mom is....a simple woman.

Hasn't he just visited a bunch of schools in recent weeks? I guess they weren't OVs? That was the comment I was thinking of, which I read as "I'm looking around right now, taking my visits, making sure. But when I commit I'm committed."
Obvs if he commits to Notre Dame and then schedules a bunch of OVs that's a different story.
