This was by far the biggest miss for ND in the '23 class. So disappointing.
Especially considering the HS that he attends. Pretty much everyone goes to an Ivy, NESCAC, or ND/Stanford/NW/Vandy/Duke.

Could be exactly why he’s going to Clemson. ND got Ausberry and he goes to high school at LSU. Sometimes kids wanna do something different. ND couldn’t have done anything more here except maybe recruit him as a WR from day 1.

Wrong. Freeman could’ve baptised him in the basilica. They have an enormous amount of holy water and it’s free.

In terms of how close they were to getting them + impact/skillset, I'd say the below.

1) Dante
2) J.Moore
3) Gallagher
4) Malik Muhammed
5) Hanafin
Doesn't Hanafin go to a Catholic school in Mass? Hard to compare losing out on a kid from Detroit to that lol

BB&N isn't a Catholic school, but pretty much every graduate goes to an elite college. A lot of the football players go on to play at the Ivy or NESCAC level. Their FBS kids typically go to BC, Stanford, NW, WF, etc.

Well, I do not know of any big names left on the board that we have a shot at. Guess it’s hang on time. ‘24 should be fun.

I was under the impression that Chansi was Ronan's primary recruiter, but after a quick glance at his 247 profile apparently Rees was his primary recruiter. Very interesting.

Don't forget Michigan (Zinter the elder). Someone told me Preston Zinter went to BB&N for a couple years as well, though I'm not sure and he's at Lawrence Central Catholic now.

But, yeah, the majority of kids in Hanafin's class will go to an Ivy or equivalent for college. Very few will go to state schools in the South.

That said, Clemson seems to recruit (regular kids) surprisingly well from the Boston area. I see a lot of Clemson window decals on cars around here. I do think some kids want something different. Throw in the WR depth charts, our lack of a QB and his apparent relationship with Vizzina, and the sense that Ronan's buying what Dabo's selling, and here we are. It's too bad. He could have been a hell of a safety for us. But if that's not what he wanted...

Rees struggles are real. CJ saw through the bland personality. Thanks be to God.

Zak went to St. John's Prep, where Joenel Aguero currently attends, for his freshman and sophomore years. He was recruited by BB&N and transferred for his last 2 years. Preston started at BB&N before transferring to Central Catholic. CC has a Sophomore QB who might be a national recruit in 2 years. It's rare for ISL schools to have their good players transfer out, but it has been happening more lately. I have no doubt that Aguero was recruited by every ISL school when he decided to come back to SJP, and Catholic Memorial has been beating ISL schools out for players over the last few years and was able to get a WR with multiple FBS offers to transfer from Belmont Hill.

We’ve been recruiting Ronan since before Stuckey was hired. Freeman and Rees both recruited him heavy in particular since they were OC and DC when he was originally offered as an ATH recruit.

So is Dabo's Christian pitch going to win this thing?
