More impressed with the 6’7 than I am the 330. Very few 6’7 OL players that can move.
Knee injuryOn his podcast today prister said jagusah is obviously still hurt and is way too big. Couldn't train properly because of his injury. Did he get hurt this winter and have surgery?
Had knee surgery in January. On his podcast today prister said jagusah is obviously still hurt and is way too big. Couldn't train properly because of his injury. Did he get hurt this winter and have surgery?
Wouldn't make any difference if he was not injured and ready to play, he was going to get redshirted regardless with Alt and Fisher playing.Maybe it makes sense to redshirt him
I don't see it happening. If it does, either something incredibly good has gone right for Jagusah or something incredibly bad has happened for the program. The sort of guy who could "muscle in" even freshman year. Power and leverage surely no problem. As a wrestling champ, probably elite core strength already. Look out first team.
Must've been Howard Cross's tackles. They wear the same number. ESPN box score showed Cross with 6 tackles. Did find one Box Score that showed Cross with 4 and Jagusah with 2.Saw in the box score he had 2 assists on tackles but doesn’t show up anywhere on snap count.. did he play D for a few plays?!? Or was it special teams? I missed it
Yea it was Howard CrossMust've been Howard Cross's tackles. They wear the same number. ESPN box score showed Cross with 6 tackles. Did find one Box Score that showed Cross with 4 and Jagusah with 2.
Your starting LT for the Sun Bowl, per Marcus Freeman
Head coach Marcus Freeman made a surprising announcement during today's press conference when he stated it would be true freshman Charles Jagusah that would be replacing Alt.Kind of surprised by that. I thought it would have been Wagner or Baker. I’m not sure what it says that he jumped both of them, but certainly interesting!
Any mention who is going to be starting at RT?
Definitely would’ve been easy to transfer by now. He gets looked poorly on for his play earlier in his career, but he’s no doubt been putting in work since. I remember watching him get in extra work after practice when I went up to a practice a while back.Tosh Baker keeps fighting, I like him.
Not me. I am giving until the second half against TAM.Jagusah has huge shoes to fill. Hope people don’t expect him to be perfect from the get go.
IMO, his skill set is a more natural fit at RT. It would be his best position for 2024 so it’s worth seeing what he can do there. It sounds like Baker's been passed by Jagusah and possibly Wagner as well. Doubt if he sticks around to be a back up. We will be pretty light numbers wise at OT come the fall. Will need a transfer unless some of the surplus guys at C or G can play T.
A year ago he was a senior in high school coming off of an 0-9 season.
Life comes at you fast, kid.
Honestly, I think everyone needs to brace for the possibility that he could struggle, but hell....he might end up being great. If all that was keeping him from meaningful reps as a true freshman was Joe Alt, that's nothing to shake a stick at.I’m sure on a site like Irishenvy, everyone will rate his performance fairly
That was a knock on Angeli on this site that his long wind up got him sacked/pressured in action. The script seemed to flip this year I think so maybe it was last year in relief.Plus I doubt Angeli will be getting the ball out quicker than Hartman most downs. May be more sacks because of that.
This^ I was surprised to see Jagusah getting first team projections, but 1) the staff must think he’s legit and 2)I am now really interested to see what weight Wagner is at. I feel like the staff has to be hesitant putting a 280 guy on Angeli’s blindside no matter how athletic and talented he is (and honestly he has looked really light when he plays in garbage time)My reaction to this is more like Beau's than some of these other comments. One always must be somewhat surprised when an untried freshman ascends to first team at any position, but the fact that Jagusah is getting one of the tackle positions doesn't surprise me much. This is an athlete who is a forever winning wrestler at the heavyweight level. That means that he is never overpowered, never outquicked, never outleveraged in his career. Kind of astounding. As Beau says, this is his first game: Show a little patience. I'm really looking forward to his career, and we all should be. He could be BOTH a "dancer-puncher" AND a roadgrading mauler.
As to RT: from the comments it is not at all obvious that Tosh Baker has been eclipsed by Wagner, even though Jagusah has taken the left side. Baker can beat out Wagner for RT on power considerations --- OR, he might not beat Wagner, but next year become a killer guard. Let's not transfer him out too quickly. As to Wagner, the comment that he has plenty of "frame" on to which to hang lots of weight is not at all obvious to me by eye. He almost looks like a giant tight end as much as a tackle. or a game-wrecking defensive lineman. I HOPE that he can put on and be fast with significant new weight, but I'll wait and see.
