That’s BS. No way this is sustainable. Man I hope a lot of donors lose money and the coaches make their own job harder on them and these high profile kids don’t become stars and burns the system.
I wonder if coaches will be pressured by boosters to play the kids who signed the big NIL deals even if there are better players at that position. For example, what happens if Ty Thompson is better than Dante Moore next year? Do they play Dante because he signed a big NIL deal and he could transfer?

I agree. I’m hoping in a year or two this whole P4P and NIL will slow down after a bunch of these players don’t live up to expectations after donors drop millions on them .

You know this will be an issues. Just wait til the donors start complaining about the coaches not playing these players and want the coaches fired. It’s going to be a complete shit show.

It has to. There’s going to be plenty of examples where a kids performance doesn’t equal what they were paid.

This is like when Apple use to release new iPhones regularly. People couldn’t wait to get their hands on the latest and spent a ton of money. Then they realized the investment wasn’t worth the return.

On pressure to play these kids, this will probably be a real thing by their sophomore year if not sooner.

I don't think spending will slow down, likely will increase tbh. If A&M made a $30M over 3 year commitment to their most recent class, at $10M per year with likely >10 boosters putting their names behind that it's likely just F U money they used. Using $800K as an average contribution from the boosters, you need to find 38 boosters worth >$16M....which shouldn't be that hard at A&M. I used a threshold of 5% of assets which would be the level of F U money. Think of ND fans that make a trip out of going to a game to a Shamrock series game, if they're "worth" $120K in liquid assets then conceivably spending $6K on a trip for their favorite school wouldn't be that outrageous.

Anyways, I think we're closer to beginning of the arms race rather than the end.

They raised $88M for the practice facility (Texas A&M collects for facilities and/or 'The Fund,' with goal of dancing on Kyle Field)

Apple still releases them regularly btw The History of Every iPhone Model from 2007–2022

KK might have been a ND type guy but his family clearly isn’t. I can’t imagine having family that hooked on money that they don’t even care if it’s what he wants.
Okay so you are told you can make $100,000++ with some of it up front and go to UF, Bama or OSU or you could go to ND and you are told you might make money later.

ND is simply taking many of the 5 stars out of the running with not paying upfront NIL. Therefore all things equal - it will be much harder to win a Natty.

A good friend of mine is a GA at a bigger power 5 school. He said this has already happened with two of their players, both being transfers, and they haven't even played their first game yet.

Mr. TorontoGold, what you’ve just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard.
At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be
considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it.
I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

There is no way the spending continues the way it is. People are not cool with throwing money into the wind. I don't care how much "F.U. money" you have. 100k for something that never brings any results? F.U. money is used for stuff that brings at least some type of gratification, no matter how dumb it is. Like buying a Honus Wagner card. At least then you can usher your buddies into a back room, temperature controlled, flip on a spotlight, and show a baseball card behind an inch of glass. Sounds better than "See that kid sitting on the end of the bench? No. The kid behind the cooler. Yeah, gave him 100k to sign."

These guys that have FU money didn't get it buy tossing it around like confetti, right? I can see them being a little slower to open the wallet if the results aren't there or a kid doesn't start or wants to transfer.

I was thinking they released them a little more often during the first few years, but evidently not.

Sure, but with that logic there wouldn't be boosters in the first place. Might slow down on an individual basis, but there always be someone that wants to step into the spotlight and want to be "the guy" who helps get a big recruit.

Mo money Mo Problems. Cannot wait for an ESPN doc on all the wasted and lost talent... maybe even some criminal investigations. When there is all this money floating around bad shit will happen. We are already talking about shady family... and lets be honest that some of these players come from backgrounds and areas where if you threaten my money bad things will happen. I could see a lot of crazy things happening to get rid competition when outplaying them didn't work. This shit is gonna explode.
