I think HS recruits should not be allowed to verbal anywhere until their Sr year. By the time they first step foot into their SR year they should be able to sign their LOI to play for whoever they want. This “verbal” stuff and “silent” stuff is really dumb if you really think about it. You say you want to play for ND… fine here is a contract.
What?
A verbal means nothing.
The team and coaches can’t even talk about it.
The only way of knowing is a kid publicly saying they plan on going somewhere. It means nothing.
My 6 year old can say they are going to ND. Nobody can stop them.
What’s next, a kid can’t say publicly who they rooted for growing up? LOL
A verbal is nothing more than a kid telling the world who his current leader is.
And a high school Sr. can’t sign a contract unless they are already 18.
And even if they sign a LOI, which is not a contract, they can immediately get out of it whenever they want now.
It always has been & always will be, a business about trust & relationships.
All you can do is build relationships and trust what the kid tells you.
