Reminiscent of Love's recruitment. Biggest difference is Lyons' recruitment didn't really start until September. I don't blame him one bit for wanting to do his due diligence.
Right. Keep in mind that not many programs knew who he was when the summer started.

It still boggles my mind that his only in state offer is Fresno State, too. If the other guys are all filled up at WR, so be it, but you'd think if not they'd want to get in the mix here. Their loss.

I'd rather he let it play out then decommit last minute like the kid that did last year and went with Harbaugh

Nothing matters until someone signs something. A verbal in April vs a verbal in November. What's the difference?

Please don't say "momentum" because it's Wednesday afternoon and I ran out of patiece for the week.

I'm pretty sure if his other top schools are A&M and Miami, then he isn't worried about current offensive performance.
Not what ISD and 247 say. Literally says he has concerns with the passing attack.

Headed into November, a lot of these guys are gearing up for state playoffs or have already started. They're putting recruiting off to the side until their seasons are complete. This obviously disrupts the "I want the verbal NOW" timeline for all the Veruca Salts out there desperately wanting commitments for their favorite college football programs.

I think Lyons is worth the wait and it appears others agree considering how quickly he blew up with offers in such a short span of time.

Hopefully Lyons realizes what a golden ticket he has in his chance to attend Our Lady’s university…

ISD continues to kill it with these Friday Intel drops. Worth the price of subscribing just for this.

Lots of quotes from Lyons. Really made me like the kid. IMO, really sounds like the only hang up in him committing is the fact his national recruitment got started so late in the process. He's aware of ND's visit policy and respects that.

On one hand, I get this. Our passing game is currently dogshit, and it's all he has to go on.
But on the other, recruits have to know that in three-four years when they're in the prime of their college career they're going to be playing with a different quarterback, and probably for a different OC, than the ones we have today. Right?

Choose based on the school, the program, the head coach, even the NIL if that's how you roll. But don't choose based on the desperate-times quarterback we're running out there while you're still in high school.

Not to overassume here, but that bit at the end could mean something substantial. It makes it seem that ND's official visit policy may be the reason he hasn't committed yet. But, as the article said, his recruitment has blown up since September so he has more to ponder about now then when ND first offered and started communication.

It was a good article. And this young man‘s mentality is what sells me on him. He knows that unfortunately because he wants to take visits his spot might not be there and that might come back to bite him in the ass. But because he started getting a lot of attention later in the process from bigger schools he is doing his due process.

This isn’t shocking since this is exactly what he did over the summer. He was nearing a commitment to Washington, then Oregon and ND came in. Now he’s nearing a commitment to ND, and A&M, Miami coming in.

My take it’s a risky way to approach it for him at this stage. What if Miami or A&M NILs a bigger fish and say oh yeah no spot for you anymore. Then you’ve kinda burned Washington and ND who moved on too.

We’ll see. Would like him as the 4th WR but if the other 3 + Love/Edwards stick I’m not losing much sleep on it.

How many WR's is ND looking to take?

We have 3 good ones committed right now. Are we giving up on the class of 2021 WR's?

Based on what the staff is doing, and what is being reported, they are aiming for four wide receivers. In addition to Love and Edwards being recruited as athletes. Although in my opinion, Love has a higher ceiling as a RB than a WR, and Edwards lack of size but immense athletic ability would pay off more as a FLEX/slot option.

August 1st hardly anyone knew who he was. It's hard for me to feel like I've lost anything here.

I still think Four WR is the way to go based on the lack of numbers. There needs to be a sense of urgency in this class, the 2024 class and in all reality the 2025 group too.
