Speaking of Chansi - has he landed anywhere?
No first hand knowledge, but with how quiet he has been and not going somewhere I assume ND is paying out maybe next year and there's stipulation to who/where he can work with. not uncommon since he's probably not worth another place buying out

Would he have had a multi-year contract?
I also wonder if the rumors of some sort of off-field situation are true and that’s a factor.

Could have singed extension before season, no clue though. Definitely odd he’s not employed elsewhere
According to this, he did have one year remaining on his contract.

So, yeah, maybe he's still getting paid by Notre Dame and it's not financially worth it to him to take another job. OTOH, he's only been a P5 coach for like three seasons, pretty young/inexperienced to be taking a year off.

surprised no one has said the most obvious reason he might not have a job: there’s a decent chance he’s not a good coach. Del set him up with a bit of a raw deal but ND receiver performance the last two seasons is not going to show well in interviews.

Noticed this line in a Pete Sampson Athletic story on our WR corps...

"When Flores bolted after the season, he told the coaching staff that he wanted to win the Biletnikoff Award and saw no shot of that in Notre Dame’s offense."

Go shoot your shot Rico. But at UCLA? I will be curious to see how he and our other departed WR transfers fare out there in the world this season.

Better chance he’s out of football in 4 years than winning that award

He will struggle vs good defenses. He also played last year with the best qb he will ever play with

He was good, but man his effort was atrocious at times. Fight for the ball every play. Same with Merriweather, focus and drive just wasn't there at times. Wish them both the best, but they left a bad taste in my mouth in regards to consistent effort. I'd rather have 2 more Faisons.

Tbf he was made play an insane amount of snaps he did well to even make it through the season. Seemed like a good kid with self awareness don’t know how anybody could say bad thing about him

Honestly, I can get behind this sentiment as well. Just don't come here if you want it easy. But they are young, and I was a complete retard at their age. I'd hate for people to judge me now based on what I was like then. But yeah, I was a piece of shit. giphy.gif

Some of this revisionist history is weird. This dude was the difference between us being an 8 win vs a 10 win team. Sure he xferred, but he was our only reliable outside option for a decent part of the season.

I hope he gets what he was looking for and doesn’t have any regrets.

So untrue. We only won one close game and that was at Duke. He was awful in that game, I mean awful. Way too much was put on his plate for what he could do but it is what it is. He had one catch for yards at the end of the game because his defender slipped and fell down, that was it with multiple drops and couldn’t get open to save his life. Our record is the same with or without him last year.

I take that back, if he wasn’t on the roster nd would have been forced to play faison, and I say we win one more game if faison had played from game 1.

Hate for people to judge me too but I wasn’t a professional paid employee with a monetized brand to protect on social media used to shit on the school who took a chance on a borderline talent/student that at no point belonged here and managed to smoke down his position coaches career as well

Disagree, but then again, for you to be complimentary of an ND player on the offensive side of the ball would be off brand.

OT but I rewatched the Duke game recently and I was amazed at how Merriweather immediately jumped off the screen in a bad way. Dropped a dime from Hartman for a walk-in TD in the first series. The almost lost us the game by getting flagged for an offensive pass interference on the game winning drive and putting us way behind the sticks. Just a terrible showing from him.

Watching that once was enough for me.
