And you got there with the significant help of transfers, as did Ohio State. Recruiting will matter more to ND due to its self imposed restrictions of not accepting undergraduate transfers, but to every other school out there, what’s the point? Why follow recruiting and/or a recruit that will sign and may leave in a year or two?

I’d be curious to see a global statistic of players that sign and the percentage that ultimately transfer elsewhere. I’m taking a total shot in the dark, but would say it’s 1/4 or maybe 1/3?
I somewhat agree but I think ND has a unique advantage in that the kids that enroll, for the most part; do actually want that ND degree. At least they do once they’ve put in 2+ years towards it. Either themselves or someone in their orbit convinces them to wait until they earn their degree before transferring. Look at the OL that just left…2 of the 3 (IIRC) have their ND degree. Steve Angeli could’ve dipped two years ago. I believe it‘s also been a factor for former NFL & pro athletes sending their sons to ND. They realize how fortunate they are to have avoided a career threatening injury but know an ND degree w/ connections gives their sons a nice insurance policy if they don’t realize their ultimate goal of pro sports.

So why aren’t these NIL deals binding for a 4 yr commitment like any other work contract? They need to make a clause that if you sign NIL and transfer out you pay back your NIL money or a share of your NIL. Obviously exceptions like coaching changes etc.

So the first kid (handlers) to publicly accept $2mil guaranteed contract while still in highschool was greedy at UT is surprised by this? Lol

Somebody on r/cfb said it’s rumored that Dan Lanning actually called Heupel to inform him Nico’s camp was trying to shop around for better offers.

This kid and his handlers are morons. I too hope he doesn’t get rewarded by another school for this behavior and below average play.

Hel might find someone who is stupid enough to overpay him $2 million a year (which is a stretch) No way he gets the $4 mil he wants with the season he just had
Is he going to find someone willing to pay much?

Good for Tennessee for moving on.
Is he going to find someone willing to pay much?
That will be fascinating to see in this process. Even NIL collectives/boosters have to have some kind of budgets. I would think the winter window is more lucrative.

And let’s call it what it is. College football is now an employee/employer relationship

Someone will be desperate and play the game. Not everyone will be as noble as Tennessee (can’t believe I just said that).

Winning trumps all for some people. Some will put up with the antics.

WHAT IF this is partly true BUT Lanning’s a guy you don’t say no to in off the record / under the table, tampering type negotiation?

Just saying.

A guy at the gym this morning told me ND might be going after him. He heard it from a former Notre Dame player. I thought it sounded crazy - good to see the post from JB.

Is he? Against ranked teams:

5 G (3-2), 77/135 (57%), 174 YPG, 4 TD, 3 INT

Unranked teams:

8 G (7-1), 136/199 (68%), 218 YPG, 15 TD, 2 INT

Smells like a paper tiger to me. At least so far...
I thought he looked best his first season. Just hasn't really progressed much at all

It won’t happen, but it would be awesome if everyone just fucking black balled him. Your playing days are over, Nico “I’maneedajoba”
He won't get completely black balled but there is a very legit chance he won't get as much as Tennessee was paying him.

There aren't that many teams out there that can afford to dish out two mil for a QB and the ones that do have that kind of money have better QBs on their roster then what Nico did last year. And that isn't even bringing up the issues with culture, lockroom, flight risk and many more concerns.

 I gotta say, I think a lot of you are fucked up hypocrites when it comes to NIL. Many also regularly ignore important legal distinctions that make what's going on in college and in the NFL incomparable.

Let me be crystal clear, I have no sympathy for Nico or Tenn. Fans can and should use their wallets to express approval/disapproval with both.

Dan Lanning can eat shit, too. How many times have we heard about Oregon tampering? A player shopping himself around is a bridge too far him? Players are allowed to shop themselves around and schools are not allowed to tamper. Praise the guy though, sure.

Although I have no knowledge, my guess would be that Nico had another offer before he asked for more. He must have another seat lined up.
