Not clear how well-sourced but this indicates Georgia as a likely destination. With the idea he'd sit for a year and grow into the job (rather than start this season at a mid program), much like Dante Moore going from UCLA to Oregon. Of course, unsaid, if this time next year he's not the guy at Georgia, he can always transfer again, now. What a system!

Unless ASU pulled something together for him at the last minute... the kid got totally shafted in terms of NIL after his fiasco with Florida.

He'll get *something* this time around, even if it's not a lot. Then he'll have a chance to earn higher returns if he actually turns out to be as good as his camp thinks he is.

Maybe I'm naive, but isn't this kind of how the NIL system should work? In a roundabout way, despite how messed up Rashada's situation has been... he bought some time and experience for a year, and can now test the market again. That seems fair to me.

I don’t think the NIL system is supposed to be used the way he’s doing it, no. He’s using it as a get rich quick scheme.

IIRC, he get shafted because after agreeing to a deal he and his posse came back and wanted to get paid up front or they asked for more? Something along those lines. Could be wrong, but that's what I remember.

Ahhhh, I thought UF backed out after getting cold feet at some point between his senior season and signing day.

Still, though... I can't fault any of the kids for using NIL to their advantage. If boosters are willing to pay for an unproven commodity, that's on them.

I will be curious to see how long boosters remain willing to pay so much for high school recruits who can and will transfer at the first sign of adversity or better opportunity. But it's true there's a lot of dumb money out there.

Kirby Smart explains why Georgia football didn’t sign a 2023 quarterback: “I think it’s irrelevant in today’s day and age. The portal is full of them... ...There’s going to be multiple guys in every year. You want to do the best job you can to get the best quarterback you can.”

I will never forget this quote.

The discovery in this lawsuit… if it goes to trial… will be insane

Florida will blow two or three years' worth of NIL budget towards settlements just to keep their name out of the mud, I'd bet.

All of this has to have taken a toll on his college career. I hate to play the greedy father card, but it’s hard to see much else from this. At this point, I’d be shocked if he has a meaningful football career

This is truly fascinating

- A deal was officially signed between Rashada and those responsible for paying him on Nov. 10, 2022, with the first $500,000 payment due to Rashada on Dec. 5.

- A day after the $500,000 payment was due, the Gator Collective sent Rashada a termination letter of the $13.85 million deal. The lawsuit claims that Napier and Castro-Walker then went to great lengths to convince Rashada that they would make good on the promised money even without the contract. Castro-Walker told Rashada's agents that the Gator Guard (the NIL collective started by Hathcock) would take on paying the deal and that "Hathcock, through the Gator Guard, would personally guarantee the $13.85 million obligation himself." The only payment allegedly made was for $150,000 to pay back John Ruiz, a prominent Miami booster, so that Rashada "could avoid possible litigation" with Ruiz who was seeking repayment from the initial $9.5 million NIL deal.

- On Dec. 21, the first day of the early signing period, where Napier allegedly personally vouched to Rashada that Florida alumni "were good on their promise that Jaden would receive $1 million if he signed with UF on National Signing Day" and that Hathcock would make the payment. Harlen Rashada later texted Zager, "Coach Napier said [Hathcock's] on a plane and that he will wire 1 Mil. He wants the paper work and I'm sending it if you are good." It claims that Castro-Walker threatened Rashada that if he did not sign, Napier might pull his scholarship offer.

- Rashada informed Georgia coach Kirby Smart of his intention to file the lawsuit, according to sources, and Smart gave his blessing.

- Rusty Hardin, Rashada's lawyer, has been involved in potential litigation against Napier and others since January 2023, which is shortly after the deal collapsed. The suit was filed today.

You play with fire, you’re bound to get burned. Wonder if the parties involved will learn from this…
