Man, I think this young man is going to be really really good but he’s got a lot of weight to add. Are we sure he’s not a DT?

Was wondering if anything would leak out about his visit but it's been quiet.

A couple of things I found:

One... A FREEBIE preview from IrishSportsDaily.com in the tweet below (I completely missed it) and

UK and their fans blow Twitter up when going after Ohio kids. Vince Morrow is a BEAST.

ISD has a good piece on his visit. Sounds like the visit went very well. Encouraging read.

“Getting a chance to be around people that are like me was a really refreshing opportunity.”

Sounds like his visit wasn't the standard cookie cutter visit he normally experiences.

i was wondering if it was more about where he comes from/his HS. I don't know anything about his quality of teammates or the demographics he is used to so no idea which is the case.

I would love to start locking in the last couple of OL spots. Likely some dominos to happen in the coming weeks, but Aamil's current plan is to commit before his senior year but not announce until an All-American game.

Is that cryptic for ND is #1 or he's verbally committed and wants to keep it secret? :onfire:

A couple things.

1. He stands next to Quinn similarly to some of our other OL. For example I looked at a pick with Quinn and Kristofic. I'd guess he's 6'5 range. Plus or minus 1/2 inch.

2. There are some conversations at Bucknuts that Aamil may not have a spot in their class if he waits too long. I don't know if that is the classic, apply pressure to get the commitment or if they would really not take him if he waits. But, if he waits and they fill up, then we have to like ND's chances to land him at that point. So, the strategy of take Craig and wait out other decisions could work out.

Getting Baker, Fisher, Wagner in back to back to back classes would make me feel extremely positive about tackles. That's not even including Joe Alt

Id be happy with Wagener but he need sto put on some mass to play OL. Looks like he could carry a good bit of it with his frame and do so atheltically.

It feels like folks forget that 247 took Alt up to #179 nationally once they saw how he moved at the 280+ lbs. Apparently, he's now close to 300 and it'll be interesting to see how he factors in.

And, Carmody was #149 overall. So, that's 4 top 180 guys at OT in two classes.

Personally, I feel really good that we have Carmody, Baker, Blake, and Alt in back to back classes. I don't think we're going to be without really good options at OT, as these guys develop.

With that said, I would love to land either Taylor or Wagner because I think those guys are just that good.

Alt is my dream LT. 6'7''+ guy who is athletic as hell and an even better student of the game. Plus, he's a German Catholic kid from the Twin Cities that chose ND over the schools with familial connections because its ND.

The Dad said that Alt is now over 300 lbs and that was a couple of months ago.

On Wagner, I'm not getting the weight issue.

When Tyron Smith was being recruitied from Rancho Cucomonga to USC he was listed at 6'5" 250
Wagner is listed at 6'6" 265. that's not a bad launch point.

Plus it is 2021
Notre Dame has climbed the ladder of sophistication in
weight training
NUTRITION (did we even have one ten years ago?)

I'm not getting the weight issue either.

I played in HS at 6-6/210. And now I'm 6-5/315.

Just have to give up light beer and go straight IPA.

Four-Star OL Aamil Wagner In-Depth on Notre Dame Official Visit (247sports.com)

A premium article from Loy.

A big takeaway is his plan to commit in September/October and announce at an All star Game. Wants to take in some games or practices before deciding. This could work into ND's favor depending on how OSU plays it.

Planning on taking fall visits including for the USC game. Will make a private commitment this fall then go public at the All American Bowl.

Waiting on the OSU green light?

He said he just wants to do another round of visits in the fall for games. ND, OSU, Kentucky, and probably PSU too. He then will make a decision after the second round of trips privately and then announce publicly at the All-America game.

Haven’t read an OSU board but they are newly trending for another top OT. That + a solid OV has Wagner definitely the most likely of the OTs left
