Haven’t read an OSU board but they are newly trending for another top OT. That + a solid OV has Wagner definitely the most likely of the OTs left

In this case, I'd be happy to swoop on OSU's leftovers. Wasserman at the Athletic had an article the other day about how OSU going national more often is helping PSU (Allar, Saunders, etc.). ND's got to be able to keep snagging top Ohio talent, esp when the Buckeyes recruit over them in Texas, Georgia, etc.

Too Dale's point, they are going after Kaden Dewberry in Texas. Not sure he is a tackle but a good OL nonetheless.

Dale, I wonder if something else is at work. With Lo Styles here, Brenan Vernon committed, and Sonny Styles making nice noises about Freeman, is it possible, that, for the first time, in a long time, Ohio state fears the recruiting machine that ND is becoming??? perhaps they were once supremely confident that they could always pull the Styles, the Vernons, the Wagners if they pressed hard later, but perhaps they realize that it is different this time./.....

I haven’t directly dived in on OSUs side of things but it’d guess ND and others have just made this a battle that Wagner isn’t decided on yet. Meanwhile OSU may not view Wagner as someone to hold off other guys for, so bird in hand as they say.

sure but it seems we passed on Fitz, and are waiting on Wagner, and it seems that Ohio State took a sure thing in Fitz.

And nine of those guys committed to Columbus before we hired Lea's replacement./

I am less intrigued by what has occured than by what is coming ahead.

If we get Nwankpa it would start looking like a development.

We have. And so have they. I put OSU ahead of a healthy Clemson and on par with Alabama. I hope I'm wrong but until we prove otherwise, it's like Ash said:

Interesting take considering they got curb stomped by Bama in the playoffs a few months ago. Our game was more competitive than theirs.

Day hasn't proven it as a a head coach at the levels of Meyer Saban or Dabo. Everyone puts them in that tier cause they are killing it on the recruiting trail but that doesn't = championship caliber football. They are the new Georgia until they prove otherwise.

I’d say we just don’t know much what to expect or the result of a game years in advance might be the easiest way to look at it lol.

The ultimate x-factor is simple -- is Buchner who we all hope he is or not. That will be the ultimate equalizer regarding raw talent gap.

I think we are a year away of knowing who Buchner is. If ND played tomorrow I would go with starting Coan.

You make a good point on Day. Ohio State did get thumped by Alabama this year. But they thumped a healthy Clemson to get there. They also beat Alabama by double digits a few years ago to win the title.
The point is, they are capable of beating these two teams convincingly. We can't even make it a game. OSU is far ahead of us.

I wouldn't constitute Clemson going into that game as "healthy". They were in better shape than we were by season's end, but hardly healthy.

Not to mention, Clemson had to play nearly double the games Ohio State did, so Ohio State was all around fresher and less banged up going into that match.

This was a huge gripe I had with letting Ohio State compete in the playoffs. That reason was a massive advantage in their favor over the likes of Clemson or us. Alabama was just flat out better than them and unstoppable by the time they rolled into that game.

While talented, I think the offense will be too young in '22. But, 2023 could be very interesting.

Wow, that was seven autumns ago, and OHIO State had a "lucky injury" which forced them to play Cardale Jones. He was a wild child, and could never beat JT Barrett for the strarting job, but he was just explosive enough, with a cannon and his feet, to beat Bama in that semi.

It will be many many moons before Ohio State will beat alabama again.

Fear is the path to the dark side, and quite present around St. Mary's and St. Joseph's lakes.

When Harbaugh went to Michigan it was deemed that we'd never beat them again. Not really.

When we went to play Deshaun Watson and Clemson in a hurricane, we had no shot.
When we went with Everett to play FSU and Jameis in Doak, we had no shot.;

When we went to Athens, surrounded by Georgia boiled peanuts, we had not shot.

Were those 3 games losses, sure.

But it's different now at Notre Dame. and it gets differenter every day.............

Fear is the path to the dark side. Renounce it, or you'll go dark.

1) Day doesn't get credit for Urban Meyers championship
2)They are not capable of beating Bama convincingly
No idea where this rhetoric comes from. It's like some OSU fan wished it into existence that there is a top 3 and not a top 2. It's just not the case.

I watched the IU v OSU game last year and they looked like the same team. OSU even caught a couple breaks to win that game so wasn't like IU lucked their way into it. IMO Lincoln Riley is closer to challenging that top group than Day.

Maybe I'm misremembering but I absolutely thought ND was gonna smack Clemson in 2015. They weren't current powerhouse Clemson just yet, from a national perspective.

Ohio State fared as well as ND vs Bama and OSU had a generational CFB / NFL Prospect QB and a Bama-like, 247 approved roster.

Now they have CJ Stroud who's just a talented Questionmark Backthere.

There's actually a lot of question marks in Columbus, the kind of questions that may lead to losing those IU / Northwestern type games in '21
