On 12/12 Loy throws down an OU crystal ball
On 12/14 Lea accepts Vandy job
On 12/16 Ford tweets he's making his announcement on 1/18
On 1/8 Freeman hired

Logically I see little hope in this situation.

He is committing to OU Monday. Best we can hope for is a successful 2021 with a good performance from ND’s D, some disappointment from OU, or one of his recruiters in Norman to accept a new job at the end of the season. If 2/3 of those things take place and Freeman stays on him without taking no for an answer...we have a chance to flip later.

The only thing to hope for is Riley going to the NFL.

I expect OU to be very very good next year if all remains the same.

That being said, that's why you recruit Ford until the end and you recruit him like he's Justin Tuck's 5* son.

Whoa, Wiltfong and Loy know something? This would be an incredible development.

Sounds like a case of priority 1 once Freeman had a chance to hit the ground running, also have to feel like Elston must be staying if he’s putting in work

1. Hire the best coaches
2. Attract the best recruits

I love it when a plan comes together

Singer with the FC as well. Something got out in advance of his Monday announcement.

He turned in his decision for Monday's program reveal to 247 & Rivals it seems... or hinted to them it's coming.

All of the ND sites were surprised.

Not only Singer, but the Rivals OU guy (McCuiston) switched his FutureCast from OU to ND.

So has this one been ND all along or did it swing at the end?

I assume it's the former because he could always push back his commitment date.

even if Ford doesn't pick ND it's still way early in the recruiting cycle, with a good season ND could easily get back into the race.

I think ND led very early. OU took a lot of momentum with their recent pressure. The sped up timeline caught folks by surprise, as he was previously talking about taking OV's. Once the staff got wind of that, plus the addition of Freeman, they really turned up the heat on him. And were able to swing the momentum back in our favor.

I know we want to crown Freeman a first W and I don’t mean to be the Elston Fan Club but he has become the overlooked man in America lately. Deserves credit here reportedly with priority from him given for weeks on this.

I’m not sure where you’ve been, but I appreciate your input on this board. You seemingly came from nowhere and have offered insightful and reasonable thoughts/takes. You have hit the ground running and I appreciate your contribution. I don’t always agree with your opinions, but I’m always happy to see them. I’ve been around quite a while, contribute little and take way more than I give. I try to not get personal or too argumentative with others, and I just want you to know I (and I’m sure others) are happy you choose to be here.

Thanks and keep it coming!

Excellent turn of events. I'll eat crow for reading the tea leaves on this one prior to the most recent update.

With 3 DE's last class, does the staff take Ford and Bauman at SDE with Wesolak and Tafiti at WDE?

Foskey could jump after 2021, leaving 2022 depth as:
5th: Ademilola
Sr: Nana
Jr: Botelho, Ehrensberger
Soph: Aupiu, Schweitzer, Onye
Fresh: ???

Even if Justin and Jayson leave together after graduation vs take a grad year - with MTA and Hinish back, and Justin's first year starting opposite of likely a better player in Foskey, I think 2022 could be a BIG year for the brothers - 10/11 at DE on scholly is a big number. Plus it looks like Hinish + another at DT.

A lot still to play out between now and next ESD but I just think 4 seems like too much. If they land Ford I don’t think there is a need for another SDE. Ehrensberger, Onye, and Ford seems reasonable. Ford seems like a guy that could/should get snaps right away. Ford, Wesolak, and Tafiti has been and will be my realistic dream class.

This is a nice, pleasant surprise. I’m really starting to wonder what other very good/elite recruits Marcus Freeman can get us in on.

Now, let’s match this recruiting effort/production on the offensive side of the ball to even this out.

Love reading the news about Ford & ND, even the SBT had Ford committing to OU on Monday.

Just think if Elston does stay at ND what he and Freeman can do together in the recruiting trail.
