Practice reports aren't sounding good for Mr Chan. Schrauth, Craig and Wagner are all in the two deep, Chan isn't. Been tried at both G and T.

If a guy who is just starting his second season with the program is already done for, maybe following college football is no longer for me. Sheesh, man. I get we're a fast food society, but we've obviously gone a bit too far and the portal doesn't help matters at all.

I really thought he'd be a star. He had great athletic traits for guard. OL is a hard position to project because for every Joe Alt that reaches their potential there's a big bodied dude who moves well and never put it all together.

There's the "football smarts" element of OLine play too, not just the "monster skill" side. I don't know anything about Chan when it comes to this, but Braxton Cave almost didn't get it enough to get on the field, even though he was by far the better physical specimen. As Coach Kelly said when comparing his two centers at the time: When Braxton blocks you, you stay blocked. He just doesn't always block the right guy.

We tend to look only at the eye-test physical "candy" of some of these guys, and there's always more to it than that. (Again, I don't know what Chan's issues are as to getting on the field other than there are a LOT of really good OLinemen at ND.)
