At Cincy he was certainly multiple with his fronts including LB’s. That OFD article did a good job of explaining that his ‘heavy’ package with a 4 man front often includes 3 traditional LB’s. So, a SAM LB instead of a Sniper or S. However, that wasn’t used all that often. Could that change as he may face more power oriented teams at ND? Sure. Do I think it would become a base? Probably not.

Thanks LL. Which article (gotta link?).

Stealing a LB out of the hands of USC? You just hate to see it.

And this is where I think rankings and ratings get people a little overzealous about certain guys. In today’s football, I’d have guys like Cheeks and Jackson rated ahead of him because of those mobility concerns. However, I also don’t see anything on tape that remotely resembles Botelho’s ability to rush the passer off an edge. So, I think what you have here is a low to mid 4 star Mike LB that will probably be more in the mold of Tevon Coney versus Drue Tranquill.

Coney was an uber productive, collegiate, Mike LB.

Agreed

Nice to come into a thread and not have to say much. Nice job her Lucky.

If the staff thinks he can do it, I'm all for a move to DL. His tape does not strike me as awesome. Reminds me of Nyles Morgan.

After reading that article it seems a Coney or Morgan type LB is what is preferred for Freeman’s system. One that can play down hill and attack the C gap. I’m not an x and o guy at all and I don’t claim to know much about game planning but I love a bad ass MLB

Would Bauer fit the bill?

NBC Sports had accidentally posted a commitment article for him to ND last week, but it was taken down quickly and the guys at ISD said that it was a nothing burger.

Even if it was, it does seem like we have some positive momentum here.

I believe even before that though, Jamie and Matt were talking about how his rankings are a bit overinflated lol. They say he's fine, but nowhere near the prospect as the other LBs they're in on. This could be a great LB class for the Irish.

I definitely don't think he's a top LB in the class based off just his sophomore film. But I differ to people who have seen him in person.

He’s posted the same Manti edit the ND recruiting department gave him multiple times now. Got ND on his brain
