Wonder if the staff will reach out to Mickey to see if he will reconsider. Jordan Clark and Rod Heard will have to help out in the CB room as well. Hope BMo heals up even stronger for his future.
Yeah, that is a tricky situation. Freeman did seem to go out of his way to defend Mickey's decision. So perhaps they are still on good terms.

Mickey has been backing up Gray so he wouldn't necessarily be walking into a starting job if he did come back.

I don't know how you can let guys quit (seemingly) for lack of playing time come back when their prospect of playing time is better.

O'Malley thinks this means he returns next year depending on the severity because he won't be healthy for the draft. If it means sacrificing a playoff run this year for a championship next year... i mean that team is stacked outside of interior d-line if he came back.
I'd include Quarterback, Safety, Special Teams, and Wide Receiver as positions that we won't be stacked in as the roster currently stands. Improvement from young guys and transfers could change all of these, but we'll have to see.

Wait - is there really a rumor that this injury is the result of a fall in a bar after the game?

Seriously?

You are certainly correct, and my post was full of assumption, but I am assuming that A) the QB we need is on the roster and B) Safety, ST, and WR are all positions that ND has done well in the portal on.

I don't believe ND will be able to acquire top interior DL talent how they have these other positions. I think CB is fine without Ben-Mo, but we're talking the best ND secondary ever if he returned (maybe slight hyperbole!).

Are you sure about that?
We're getting closer to an corporate football.
Until real binding contracts start, it's the wild wild west.
Hence, "not a normal employment situation". I would love nothing more than to see players turned into at worst 1099 employees and at best, collectively bargaining.

I'm bummed.

The only bright spot is that GT and Navy aren't passing offenses which will give the team time to adjust.
There's really no good pass offenses left unless you count USC sort of

Louisville was probably the best combo of QB+WR+OC (HC) talent - and Leonard played every single snap that game and passed that test.

Do we have any indication when the injury happened or was it more something that came about from football being....football and a contact sport?

I checked with a beat guy and they said the rumor - though humorous - is untrue.
I've always heard "where there's smoke, there's fire"

ND beat (and ND football) tried to cover up Buchner's injury as a fall in the gug. Not what many students on campus were reporting...

I mean, was he in the game at the end of the 3rd quarter before the delay? If so, the injury didn’t happen on the football field.

I think we will miss BMo.
Organise some NIL and bring him back next year.

Wasn’t Ford training in the DB room this offseason? Maybe moving him back there solves two problems…

Not certain, but he played more snaps than any defensive player except Watts on Saturday.

Did Freeman not elaborate at all on how Morrison got hurt?

Singleton and Rutherford on GT are legit receivers. Not USC or Louisville good, but they aren't slouches. UVA can pass the ball too.
