This is what a strong season, leads too. We have to keep building on that.

I was gonna write on this in the State of the 2020 & '21 Class threads. Yes, ND has the benefit of coming off 2 very good seasons but ND would've been a favorite for Carmody, Rubio, Fisher & even Baker had they been 9-4. Just the right kinda gusy for ND.

I think the biggest difference is we have a staff full of guys that give effort. And, there seems to be more cross recruiting and/or coordination amongst the staff.

Yep. They are identifying top 21 talent far earlier than we've seen. Normally, it seemed like they only had their crosshairs on immediate needs and were left grasping when the primary plan didn't work out.

Now they have contingencies for their contingencies. Bill Rees was a fantastic hire and the staff is putting in the effort to land top talent that fit the university. I mean, I really haven't ever seen ND have this much success recruiting, having only followed recruiting seriously since Manti and watching games consistently for roughly 20 years.

They are recruiting quality. They are keeping all positions stacked. They are developing the talent.

Kudos to Kelly for keeping at it and making moves until he figured out the big pieces. He has a few more steps to take but the future is bright.

Maybe some of those guys, but not all of them. When you make the playoffs everyone take notice.

its pretty much the same as 2012 when the class that came after (Greg Bryant etc) had guys who on a down year would never have considered ND

# 81 overall on Rivals. Very surprised Rivals would put him in the top 100 this early. I thought he would need another year but that is awesome.

I get what you're saying, but that's a gutsy way to recruit. There's is a limited number of top kids and then when you whittle it down to RKG's the pool gets even smaller. Narrowing to only kids that will come regardless of the record shrinks that pool even smaller and then you have to bat 1.000 to fill the roster. I think having some solid seasons and making the playoffs helps immensely. It probably makes guys like Carmody and Rubio even easier to recruit, but you need that record to convince the other RKG's that are also looking at OU, Bama, OSU, Clemson, etc.

He's certainly an ascending prospect, IMO. Moves very well for that size and age. And, he's still got 2 years before he's on campus.

Hard to believe he's that big as a junior. If he can continue training his explosion at the snap, he'll be an absolute monster.

IMO, he's certainly got the upside to be the best DT prospect of the last 5 years. Key word is prospect, a guy like Tillery turned out to be an exceptional player once developed on campus.

Looks like he had an unofficial visit back in October, said "He could really see himself here" blah blah, looks like they don't have a ranking in place for him yet, but he scored 22 times his freshman year so dude's obviously cut from the right cloth. Yes, please.

Dad played for the Rams for a few years, got some clock even started a bit. He started off at UVa and finished at... FCS school. William & Mary, James Madison, ??? So he and Lyght should have plenty of things to talk about when it comes to former employers.

As for now, he is his son and Rubio's HC at Lutheran.
