I'm not sure the "best" guy will play LT over RT. Outside of size, length and bend, the two biggest factors are the speed in which you can get into your pass drop and force you have with your hands. The drop leg plays the biggest role - some guys are more comfortable dropping with their left leg and some guys prefer dropping with their right leg. The "best" guy is usually forced to play left side and they make adjustments. In this case, if all things are equal, they may just go with one over the other b/c they prefer pass protecting from one side over the other. I would guess that most guys naturally prefer playing right tackle b/c most guys are right handed and right footed. Just a guess, though.

Personally, I always preferred the left side b/c I'm left footed and right handed. I could get into my drop from the right side but I was always a fraction of a second quicker on the left side. I also preferred using my left hand as a jab hand to fight defenders and keep a distance with quicker and less powerful shots and I would keep my right handle coiled up closer to my body for a bigger shot when he closed the gap or to stop an aggresive inside move.

TL/DR: Everyone wants to make money so elite tackles will prefer playign left but in this case they may resolve the issue if one guy is more comfortable on the right side. If both of them develop into first round picks, they could just switch over to LT in the pros.

Is this why you're "Wild" Bill? I bet you keep Mrs. Wild Bill on her toes.

At the end of the day Blake beat out all the options to start the season at LT. I think he'll wind up back at LT next year if he doesn't miss a beat from the injury. Sometimes guys aren't the same afterwards, lose a step or some confidence. Prior to the injury he was an absolute monster though, so I would expect they'd return him to LT next season all things being the same.

What a game this weekend. For him to recover from that injury and play the way he did - wow...

I watched him quite a bit and he did great. I only remember him getting beat once which is pretty good considering the time off.

He’s being projected as a late first round pick next year

Could you share the site/draft source that has him ranked that high?

Most of the sites I use havent updated their 2024 rankings yet; if they have, there’s no Alt/Fisher anywhere to be found

There isn’t a fix for our online right now… the issue is fisher is a guard, zeke can’t play… thr open competition should have been for one guard and center and portal for tackle

Again I’m still high on Fisher, but it has to be at guard.

Jagusah is a possibility, but he may be a guard as well.

IMO give me the best athlete which is Wagner.

Jettison this offense entirely in the offseason. New OC, new coaches as he sees fit. Move players around.

People will leave. Tough shit. The portal goes both ways.

Problem is Notre Dame can’t hit the portal like other schools. The transfer would have to had already graduated.

At this point, it's more of a debate whether he'll be at ND for 4 or 5 years, not 3 vs 4
