If he knows and accepts that he's basically scout team only or holding kicks, then I don't think it would be a big deal.
You gotta assume either Angeli/Minchey will bolt after the bowl game...if not sooner. That would leave RL, Minchey (hopefully), Carr and TB12 right?

lacrosse scholarships are partial. Doubt if Buchner would get much, but still a pretty cheap avenue to the ND degree.
Hope he steers clear of the QB room at least until someone leaves. Marcus wants four guys so...

Loy hinting that hes looking at ND for Lacrosse, could he join the football team as a walk on? Worst case be a practice QB?

I mean he's had 2 years at a full ride worth of credits, I can't imagine there's that many more he needs for his degree (assuming the ones he earned at Bama can't be transferred)

We should sign him on a lacrosse scholarship and let him practice with the team to see if can put it together. He’d be a great backup for Leonard if Minchey and Angelli aren’t ready and need time to develop. What could it hurt?

So let me ask... If he comes back to ND for lacrosse, why couldn't he walk on for football?

If Leonard gets injured and he has to play, the schollie transfer to football like Faison. Buchner would actually make a good backup for Leonard.

Tyler Buchner's journey from Notre Dame starting quarterback to transferring to Alabama to follow Tommy Rees was a rollercoaster of challenges and triumphs. Adapting to a new team and playbook tested his resilience, but he embraced the opportunity to learn and grow.

However, destiny had another twist in store for Tyler. Feeling a deep connection to Notre Dame, he made the courageous decision to transfer back to his alma mater. Initially met with skepticism, Tyler's determination and hard work spoke louder than any doubts.

Unexpectedly, a lacrosse scholarship became the gateway for Tyler's comeback. Notre Dame's lacrosse team, recognizing his athleticism and tenacity, welcomed him with open arms. The transition from the football field to the lacrosse pitch was a daunting task, but Tyler faced it head-on.

As the lacrosse season unfolded, Tyler's natural talent and leadership shone through. His resilience, honed on the football field, became an asset on the lacrosse team. Against all odds, Notre Dame reached the lacrosse national championship, fueled by Tyler's unwavering spirit.

In a thrilling showdown, Notre Dame faced their formidable rivals. Tyler, now a key player in the lacrosse team, scored the decisive goals, securing a dramatic victory. The crowd erupted in cheers as Tyler, the quarterback-turned-lacrosse champion, hoisted the championship trophy.

His remarkable journey not only showcased his versatility but also served as a testament to the indomitable human spirit. Tyler Buchner's legacy was etched in Notre Dame's history, a story of perseverance, adaptation, and the triumphant return of a player who refused to be defined by one sport.

Unlikely but potentially plausible scenario:

(1) Riley Leonard Transfers In
(2) Angeli Transfers Out, opening up need for another body
(3) Buchner transfers in becomes QB2-3

Idk if MF would want the controversy in the room.

Did he ever get his degree at ND? Would be pretty nuts for him to come back to finish it out on a different scholly.

Another note to point out; his GF is a current Mendoza student ('25).
I believe his sister is a freshman on ND's womens soccer team as well.

Either way, if coming back via lacrosse to finish his degree is the move, good for him. Smart kid.

I think his best move (and most likely imo) is go all in on lacrosse and transfer back to ND. He gave football a hell of a shot. I think this will happen because he was truly proud to be an ND guy. He wants the degree.

Good for him. He gave it a shot and it didn’t work out. Been a few football guys who have come back to lacrosse in the past year. A linebacker from Stanford to UVA and a corner from Maryland I believe. I hope it works out for him.

I have no issues with him being back at ND. But even he is smart enough to know better than want to play in Porkers offense. He should stick to lacrosse.
