r/RollTide (too lazy to paste)
"If Simpson had the decision making and intelligence of Buchner, along with Ty's natural athleticism we'd be 15-0"

Who wants to be the one to tell them? LOL

is he on track to graduate from Alabama? He's kinda stuck there until he does as he'd have to sit out a year if he transferred before graduating

I think he has to be. Otherwise his transfer decision goes from making little sense to making a negative amount of sense.

I guess you could put that Alabama diploma on your fridge or something.

He should transfer back to ND to get his degree and give up on football. Outside chance he could earn some PT as a middie on the lacrosse team.

Stolen from an Alabama message board..."Milroe apparently struggles with the short, quick routes and from what I saw Saturday, Buchner isn't any better, but at least he throws those passes into the dirt at the feet of the receiver, so there's less chance of an INT."

I don't even miss Michael Mayer right now. Buchner coming back is about as far from my mind as Parker running the option.

I can't imagine we would put him back on scholarship, and he has to sit out a year too since it would be his second transfer (unless he graduates from bama after 3 years, 2 at ND, 1 at Bama).
He probably already had enough to graduate from Bama after his freshman year.

C'mon. Bama is not ND, but let's not pretend it's some for profit degree mill like "The University of Arizona Global Campus"

Now that I think of it, I’ve never met an Alabama graduate in the real business world. I’ve met people from literally every other SEC school, and quite a few Auburn grads who were well respected, but never a Bama grad…. 🤔

Asking because I truly don’t know - is Auburn considered significantly more academically sound than Bama, or are they on the same level academically?

I would say generally speaking Auburn is looked at as a bit more of an academic school than Alabama. I know Auburn has a very well thought of vet school.

I’m pretty sure they’re both 13th grade, but maybe there are levels to that.

Auburn has had more academic scandals than anybody & the school has been on probation before (not just for football).
They had an entire program years back where they had kids taking other kids testing to get higher scores.

Academic ratings are a difficult thing to understand as there is much there that isn't quantifiable. Most rating systems look heavily at things important to grad school (or Medical) education and don't apply directly to our questions here. There is a rating system which tries to balance that with things like prof-reputations and student retention rates, etc. In that system, Notre Dame for instance ranks as number 211 (worldwide) --- actually not bad considering the ratings beating we take in the grad school and publications areas. Once you get down to the numbers in the 800-1000 rated categories, all of the SEC schools have gotten into the list (A&M and Vanderbilt pretty high; Florida not bad) and only three schools are below 800: these are Auburn, Alabama, and Ole Miss. They will doubtless scream and whine about this, but that's the ranking.

It’s actually gotten a lot better/selective because of their recent football dominance. It used to be a middling school, though. How do you think Bishop got into medical school?

Yes. My lowly Bama degree got me into one of the top 10 US med schools. I work in emergency medicine. If you're ever out my way and fall off a cliff or wrap your bike or car around a power pole, and see bits of yourself hanging out that shouldn't be, ask for me.

In case you have trouble locating him at the ER, Bishop is the guy in white coveralls with the mop and bucket.

Yeah ND undergrads exclusively place into selective residencies soooooo

Jk just gotta be mean for a sec that’s really cool doc

Honestly I’m a huge school snob and actually really respect alabama academically. They gave full rides to everyone with high test scores so tons of smart kids from my midwestern high school went there. And tons of smart bama guys at my law school

If I am out your way none of that would apply to me but i may get a dry fly stuck in my ear since my shadow casting is out of practice and glad you got my back

Think he lives in Montana. Is there some secret literal honey holes up there I am not aware of?
Not from what I’ve seen, and I’ve spent tons of time in MT. That said, CA transplants are beginning to migrate there so…
