Notre Dame- “I just visited Notre Dame earlier in the month and loved it there. That was my second time visiting but I have great relationships there, like the coaching staff a lot, and have a really good feel for how well I fit in. Notre Dame is the one school that most reminds me of my school here at Loyola.

“There’s the same commitment to academics and athletics and they have been really impressive this year. They’re a final four team that is playing really well and I see a lot of opportunity there on and off the field.”

This all the makings of the classic "CA recruit says all the right things and then goes to USC" bit that we see every other year. Hope I'm wrong.

Cut his list to 7 from 12 as everyone probably knows. He dropped Cal, Colorado, Oklahoma, Penn St, and Texas (some of which probably didn't know they were still in it)

Arizona St - didn't visit within the past year
scUM - visited in November 2020
Nebraska - never visited
ND - visited in December 2020 and December 2019 for Echoes
Oregon - visited in November 2020 and as a Freshman for summer camp
Stanford - visited prior to Covid
USC - local with multi visits

His top grouping is likely USC, ND, and Oregon

USC is the leader until he surprises us all, but its possible.

If ND closes:
Wright - CB
Tucker - CB

Riley - CB/S
Johnson - CB/WR
Barnes - S/CB
Gee - S/LB
Walters - S/LB

All 7 will not remain DBs so for a good problem to have, which LB or WR switch is most likely?

Johnson: Moves around a few times. No clue where he ends up but it isn't with much playing time unless maybe in slot down the road.

Strongly disagree on Johnson, think he's got pre-injury Sean Crawford level potential. Also think Riley sticks at corner with his ability. I'm sure he could be a great safety but also think he'll be a great corner and those are harder to find.

I do agree with you on Riley...I think and hope he is the boundary corner.

Wiltfong with the CB...to the trojans. Not a big surprise. Announces tomorrow on the NBC declaration show (3:00)

No Wright means we get no one tomorrow. So there's another show we don't need to watch, although I'm curious as to how gets Foreman.

Recruiting is a tough follow sometimes. Luckily, this one was never heavily invested by the fans who have become as savvy as the recruits. It maybe the players first rodeo with the process, but since recruiting has become more mainstream with social media and the pay sites, there’s hardly surprises.

Young Mr. Wright pulled out a LeBron “king” chair similar to the ESPN commercial his Space Jam 2 costar used with Scott Van Pelt to sit on during his interview for the announcement. He had USC, Oregon, Michigan, ND, and...Jacksonville St hats on the table - even though JSU didn’t make his top 12 and top 7 lists he just put out a few weeks apart in December.

Despite his best self marketing for advertising his talents to multiple fan bases to generate interest, thankfully there has been little fan fare. He chose USC just as he would have 6-9 months ago. The well of tricks with their hat off to the side was thankfully the only ploy used during the announcement besides the cringe worthy tacky chair.

Donte Williams promotion to assistant head coach certainly helped. Guy can recruit. Best of luck. Hope some of our DBs hit because after that Ohio St upset..

We had the old school DLine powerhouses number with a top OL, but as the game is moving to high powered offenses, more import will be QBs, WRs, DBs, and mobile/edge/hybrid LBs (JOK, Kollie).

Unlike the OL, this hasn’t been NDs strong suit since Weis.

So you're saying that Kelly is behind the times yet again? I'm shocked in italics.

What?

We moved to the 4-2-5, 4 years ago, and had a tremendous amount of success because of the hybrid players they've coached and developed throughout the defense. Kelly went out and got the DC from Wake Forest because of his innovative approach to multiple defensive fronts and hybrid defenders. ND has fielded a top defense every year since.

Doesn't fit his narrative.

I don't think we should necessarily strive to play the same way on offense the top 3 do. Yes, we need more explosive offensive playmakers, and having those players will let our offense be more balanced and way more difficult to defend. But we still won't want to be getting into shootouts against the big boys and OL/TE will still likely be our biggest strength moving forward. Play into and perfect that identity.

Now you've done it. Crus about to come in here and post about how much better kid actors were in the mid-90s.

No he won’t because he knows kid actors of the 90’s couldn’t hold a candle to the kids of the 60’s.
