Wait until Carr throws for 3500 yards and ends up at UGA or Bama....We haven't felt that sting yet...but we will.
I don't want to say never, but I can't see a world where this happens. If you're the starting QB an Notre Dame with a name like Carr, you should be able to write a blank check when you're playing well.

I guess Leonard is not a grad transfer and is still technically an undergrad. Same with Collins.

Malik said that Leonard isn't really an upgrade over Angeli?

I guess it makes sense to Malik, since he doesn't know what gaining playing experience feels like.

This is the way.

Technically sits two years and plays as a junior
Would that mean that Carr is giving Deuce some drives? Or the expectation that ND is blowing teams out so Deuce can get the 4th Q?

I think in a perfect world - CJ goes bonkers in 25/26 and goes to the League, with Deuce taking over in 27.

I'm not surprised they got Leonard through admissions since he attends an elite institution like Duke and they did the same thing with Brandon Joseph last year. ND Basketball brought in Julian Roper from Northwestern who was 2 years out of HS as well. My thought was it would only be for kids from Northwestern, Duke, Stanford, and Vanderbilt. But being able to get a kid from Clemson through admissions is very encouraging. Hopefully they'll be able to do more of that.

I don't actually mean Carr....I mean there is going to come a day with this portal that we have a star player that bounces. It's inevitable, and will 1000% happen one day as it would be silly to think it doesn't. Do you really believe 2009 Jimmy Clausen sticks around in this climate?? He'd be at UGA or USC so fast our heads would spin. Just saying, it's great to pluck these players and I love it....But one day we will be on the other side of things. As I believe everyone will be.

Hey now! That's the MVP of the Music City Bowl you're talking about! He also thoroughly dismantled Texas the next year before we forgot how to block blitzers against Virginia.
For real though, Malik makes a career out of saying stupid stuff regularly.

Good point. Do we know for sure that Leonard is enrolling into undergrad and not grad school at ND? I have heard two different things from talking heads.

He's not a grad transfer. Graduation date is 2025, as it was at Duke. I don't know what people who are saying he's a grad transfer are looking at, it's pretty clearly marked on his IG profile and I assume elsewhere. Even basic research (I know, asking a lot there) should make it clear for them.

Hey, remember when Bama needed a QB last year? I think ND also needed a QB too? There was a guy who was fairly decent on the transfer portal market.....I think his name was Sam Hartman? He ended up at ND.

If you think a starting QB of ND is going to leave then.....

So on the IB podcast yesterday they talked about how big a role Hartman played with RL and how Hartman was pitching RL ever since the Duke game on how special ND is. They also mentioned how Hartman played a huge role in the Deuce Knight commitment and really broke down how much money you can make in NIL as a starter at ND.

Many have given Hartman a lot of flack (rightfully so) on his performance this year but you have to wonder if there was no Hartman would we have landed RL and even Duece Knight.

You can call me a boomer and bookmark this post for next January when ND is a top-3 playoff favorite.

We are not going to win a national championship with Riley Leonard... or any grad transfer QB. We should have let Angeli, Michey, and Carr compete for the job. IMO, the benefit of Leonard will be (maybe) one win at the cost of a year of development for those guys (who may end up transferring because the coaches don't believe in them).

If ND really wants to get in the QB transfer game, we should be going after freshman 5-stars like Ewers and Fields and not these one-year rentals.
To be fair to Riley, Notre Dame isn’t going to win a national championship with Steve Angeli (ever), or two RS/true freshmen with zero experience (within the next two years).

This is my take. 3 transfers in 4 years is not a recipe for future success generally. There were mentions during the season that Hartman was still picking up the offense at times, while Angeli was making a call at the line that led to a TD. There's no reason Angeli or Minchey can't be successful next year with the right OC, especially if Golden is resigning and the defense is staying mostly intact. We need to start believing in our guys otherwise we're going to start losing guys like Carr before they can see the field. It would be nice for our QBs to build some chemistry and experience with our playmakers too.

If we don't land RL we don't get Collins, Mitchell and probably Oben.

RL will be a great guy for Carr, Minchey and Angeli to learn and develop from as well

I hope Sam is a future ambassador for ND. He truly seemed to get the ND experience and could be a good salesperson for the program going forward.

wouldn’t be in this situation if Rees could have develop a qb.

Thank God he is gone and we are on a path of filling his voids and recruiting elite QB’s .

The future is bright!

Sounds like per a former ND DL now at Duke, we're getting a good one in RL and most of all a Leader which I think has shown up in how he has led the way with networking/recruiting other TP grads - Welcome aboard Mr. Leonard!
