They need to publicize that FUND was the reason these moves were made possible. I'm happy to donate to something that has value. I don't even care if you swing and miss 9xs out of 10, just don't want it to be for nothing or to sit on.

Loy is a decent dude

We can't hate every single person on the ND football beat.

We just can't. hahahahhaaha

Loy is among the good ones.
I actually think he’s one of the best, but he has definitely stuck his neck out on this one and this thing has taken on a life of its own.

Legitimate question: how much will FUND spend on a qb? Seems we are outbidding others. Also, where does this money actually come from? Most ND alumni seem smarter than investing money in 20 year old athletes
Not sure anyone knows, I certainly don't know. But rumor was Hartman got $600K directly and rest he had to make for himself. Rumor on Leonard is Auburn was offering 2x what ND offered.

So it's probably a mix of 1) ND has strong appeal and 2) A respectable NIL but we aren't by any means a leader

Others probably know way more than me on this though but that's what I've seen put out there

Tracking the transfer QB market: Best players available, decisions to watch

“The going rate for a guy who’s going to go in Day 1 or Day 2 of the draft is $1.5 million,” said one Power 5 general manager. “This year, it might go to $2 million just because there’s less people and competition.”

The going rate in recent years for veteran transfer QBs who just want to play one more season and boost their draft stock was closer to the $500,000 to $750,000 range, he said. Blue-chip freshman transfers with big potential might’ve been worth up to $1 million. But the true NFL-caliber talent? It’s going to cost you more than that.

He’s really seen as a day one QB?? He never once struck me as that when Ive watched Duke play over the years

Coming into the season he was being mentioned in that mix - as a potential first-founder - but I tend to agree with you. He’s talented but could definitely be more refined as a passer. I’m sure Gerad and Gino will straighten him out.

Auburn might offer more direct money but I would imagine a good Notre Dame quarterback can probably land better third-party/endorsement deals. You’ll just be far more visible and better-known (at least in 49 of the 50 states).

…and the fiftieth State is his home State…

I'm kinda hoping we lose him.
1. I want to see if we can develop a QB
2. It might, although I doubt it, wake up an echo an two and we can see how a new AD and President respond. If they respond like the last two (and the two before that), we're in for a long, disappointing ride.

I'd rather Notre Dame be better at football next year than those 2 things.

His 2022 film is pretty good. The tools are definitely there, just if it can be put together

Same, and those sorts of get worse to eventually be better situations rarely work out. I'm not convinced that Leonard is the answer just as I wasn't all that impressed with Hartman at WF. But, yeah, I'm always going to root for ND to have the best chance to win year-in, year-out.

However, I would like to know as early as possible how the AD and President go about things ND Football.

TIFWIW... I asked a general question to someone in his network and got a very noncommittal answer last night. Could be nothing and would gladly eat crow.

I thought we spent a lot on Hartman but I feel better about that amount. Rumor around Iowa was they spent $600k on Cade McNamara. Talk about wasting your money

There’s room for him to grow so in one respect to point one, ND could develop him.
