Of course, buuuuut.... in his most recent season he only threw 3 touchdowns and had 50% completion or less against every opponent except Northwestern, UCONN, and Lafayette. Of course I hope he is great, but I thought I read that Will Howard also wanted ND and I wonder why we went with Riley over him.

I’m not a big Leonard fan (but hoping he shows out with ND), but I’d much rather have him than Howard - I don’t get the Howard hype. His best season is worse than Leonard’s and he’s less athletic.

Howard started one full-season, and K State brought in Adrian Martinez from Nebraska to start over him as a Junior - that’s a good indication what the team thought about him. According to many K State fans, he’s transferring in part because they don’t think he will be able to hold off Avery Johnson.

I’m not confident that Howard could beat out Angeli for the full year. At least with Leonard there is the “boom” possibility. I don’t see much other than mediocrity with Howard, but he could prove me wrong this year.

When I originally was looking at Leonard and Howard's stats, the thing that really stood out to me for Howard was the excellent 3rd down conversion rate and the fact that Kansas St. had the highest TD% as it relates to Red Zone stats.

Obviously there are lots of other factors besides just the QB as it relates to those two stats, but they at least made me get a little excited that Howard can convert in those two important areas.

Ridder ran 4.5 at the combine, im guessing Leonard runs in the 4.54-4.57 range but he's probably a lil slower than Ridder.
from what i've been able to find, leonard has times of 4.52, 4.54 and 4.47. have seen a 4.50, 4.52(official nfl combine) and 4.49 posted for ridder.

100%. leonard gives us playmaking ability with his running. it's a shame to have to NEED that in our qb, but it is what it is.

FWIW - Duke board saying Leonard will be turning down a NIL offer 2X what ND is offering if he comes here.

So you can't evaluate talent or use proper grammar. Care to go for the trifecta?
IDK what you're referring to but you always bring this up. "stupidly" was meant in humility given the lack of clarity in my OP. I'm aware it's not a word.

I know you were making fun at yourself. Add that you once famously said you aren't a talent evaluator, I thought I would play along.

Auburn may be offering more money but Leonard will get more exposure and more endorsements at ND therefore making for money. Hartman had to of made a few million probally closer to 5 coming here

This..... The deals pretty much could be passed from Hartman to Leonard based on their contracts/timing

What endorsements did he have? I know he gave out Beat headphones to the team but I never saw him in any advertising.

I'm sure he had conversations with Hartman about how much he made. We have the second largest fan base in college sports, he can do well the right way here

SDS #1 QB in the Portal
ACC coach told Saturday Down South: “We all thought (Wake Forest QB) Sam (Hartman) was a big deal last year. Riley will make a much greater impact wherever he goes if he stays healthy. He can make every throw, he runs hard and he’s 1 of the fastest guys on the field.”
