Haha, and I wasn't even feeling particularly frisky today. But, this shit show will do it to me.

I'm pretty much over the Freeman Era hype machine and BS narrative spins.
Oh that shit died after the Clemson game. My biggest fear moving forward is Freeman has no idea how to run a program and manage a roster. I think he is a good coach and a charismatic guy, I want to root for him, but this is a monster off-season for him moving forward.

Fair. So if we bring in a big transfer class that augments, we'll have a better change to contend in 2024. That will improve our recruiting classes (most likely) and should also improve our future prospects and ability to keep talent.

I'm just having a hard time seeing how this is any different than any other program. Granted, this is our first real taste of people leaving so it is a rather bitter thing.
This is your assumption based on the hype that we're certainly going to get. I get it. It's the point. Results don't have to match as long as the hype stays high.

On paper we'll always be looking at next year because look at his results recruiting or hitting the portal.

Honestly the hype reels me in every year. I'm fine with it.

I actually think he did a GREAT job managing the roster (not the staff) going into 2023, but they did a terrible job coaching on the offensive side, away game prep, and in game decisions.

I expect us to have a really good roster again for 24, but not confident we'll have any better of a staff or coaching.

Maybe, maybe not. Let's see what happens this cycle. Early signs are it won't be as difficult as past cycles. We've been led astray before so I'm not banking on it yet.

No disagreements here. Everything since OSU on that side of the ball has made little sense. The II pod made the shout of Darrell Hazell for WR coach today and while that is someone Freeman has experience with, that could be the perfect piece of seniority needed to fix the offensive side of the ball.
He hasn’t coached since 2018. If anything, I’d bring him on in one of those senior “analyst” roles. But I like the idea of someone like Hazell.

Leonard: But Coach, I have only one WR per play to throw to!
Freeman nods to Parker : No sweat Kid. We have a design where you bounce the ball off our tackle's helmet and catch it yourself!
Leonard: ... ummm .... are you sure you guys are smart?

Man, I love MF as a person and as a representative. But I'm starting to worry he doesn't know what the hell he's doing.
I think you can say that about a lot of coaches right now, even seasoned ones with the new portal. How he finishes the cycle will be more telling than how we are starting it.

I agree. This is uncharted territory for everyone. There is no one MF can call for advice about this issue right now. Everyone is figuring out best practices in real time.

I occasionally check other boards, usually for schadenfreude but also for information, and every fanbase thinks their coaching staff is failing the NIL Era. The OSU board yesterday had a long thread about ''getting serious about NIL'' after the Scott decommitment to Miami. They sounded exactly like us.
