So have we learned a valuable lesson from all this?

Allow me to get on the mattress, I mean, soapbox:

This staff doesn't give a piss that anyone directly or indirectly outside the program can't hold their liquids.

And never, ever, take MFMF for some kind of peon in the portal process.

Trust the Golden Standard.

The raw talent this team is going to have is unbelievable, and I trust this coaching staff MF has assembled more than any other in the country. Every single position has a top tier coach in college football.

The IU philosophy is to take older, lower rated talent that has proven performance in their previous situation. The ND philosophy is to take young raw talent that has a much higher ceiling and hasn’t gotten much playing time yet.

This staff is unmatched at developing players. I am full of fucking Kool Aid and the question has to be asked…. Will we be sitting here 53 weeks from now and debating whether this is the greatest team that has ever been assembled in Notre Dame’s history

Another guy on 247 (JoeMontoya) says that Graham is signed….. those in his circle worry about him succeeding academically.
If that’s the case I really hope ND gives him the resources to be successful in the classroom. Which, I have no doubt they will. “Challenge everything”

It has all the makings to be a great success story.

I think it’s fair to say the stuff wasn’t as prepared as they could’ve been for the portal cycle, but was able to salvage it through a combination of money, hard work, and luck (OSU passed on Brewu bc of Smith, Hartline leaving OSU Resulting in WR transfers, and Keeley being a previous ND commit)

I don't think that's the philosophy Notre Dame meant to have going into the transfer portal, but when they missed on a few players it became a choice between lesser talented guys that have produced or uber talented guys who haven't.

I actually was wondering the same thing. Snowden is the only true slot / nickel CB of the bunch, so it’s tempting. But when you have Moore, Gray, McKinney, Sanders, Zachery and Golden, not sure you can justify adding anyone else.
Yeah, it probably starts getting to the point where if you add anymore players, you're pushing guys out the door with 3-4 more years of eligibility, for a guy will a single year left... You have to have some balance.

Thay said, Snowden is legit good and would be an excellent fit at nickel and would help mentor Dallas Golden. Oh well, somebody else (probably Michigan) is getting a good one.

I don’t think Fields and Porter share very many similarities besides height
I'll give you an NFL comp... Go back and watch Dez Bryant at Oklahoma State. I genuinely think Porter could be that.

Big, fast, physical and ultra competitive. A big guy that can beat you in space and is better in the short game than you think, but can absolutely get down field and body people on the deep ball and in the jump ball game.

I think we maybe should slow down on comparing dudes to Dez Bryant

Assuming they fill the remaining holes,… Talent like the 1990 team,… on paper it looks really good.
Hopefully we do a little better than the 1990 team. Not that it was a bad year but this is very much a put up or shut up year for ND. We don’t know if it’s the final year for Freeman at ND before he moves on & we drew a (justified) line in the sand after getting snubbed from the playoffs. Ya hate to say Nattie or bust but it kinda is Nattie or bust in 2026.

I get that,… the 1990 team was loaded though,… should never have lost to Stanford and gone into the orange bowl playing for a natty. I always felt that team was the most talented in my time as an Irish fan
