Two FCS QBs over Ewers. I think the injuries that Texas continually conveyed as nagging clearly are a concern, notably his arm strength is not anywhere close to it used to be

Ewers aside, what a fucking awesome move by Carroll taking these two

This team won 3 playoffs games and took a 7-0 lead against an all time roster with fewer picks than Iowa State. IDK to be happy or pessimistic.
It's crazy what happens when you have an identity on both sides of the football. My number one concern is losing that on defense this year. But no doubt the "ceiling" is way higher on offense due to more veteran OL, better arm talent at QB, return of elite RBs, better corps of pass catchers.

Ewers to Miami.

Damn the video of him being picked is heartbreaking. Whole room is silent and he’s crying (sad tears)

Mellott isn't playing QB in the League. He's a phenomenal athlete. As the FCS football authority on this board, he could be a very fun Kordell Stewart "Slash" guy for them. Maybe he will even become a legit receiver in time. No idea how that all works.

Cam Miller is pretty good. He could've transferred somewhere bigger/better over the last couple years. Could be a solid backup. Had a good reputation in ND. Good competitor. Ceiling is Gardner Minshew without as good of a mullet or infectious personality (he's from Iowa and therefore boring).

But yeah, Ewers must be kinda cooked or unable to currently display the talent that NFL teams want to see before taking anything other than a flyer on him.

Cam Miller reminded me of Ian Book
Cam Miller would have beat Ian Book in a hypothetical open competition.

I've said it before on here but it's absolutely an indictment on Brian Kelly that NDSU constantly and basically without interruption had FAR better quarterbacks than Notre Dame. 2011-2020, the only year ND was undeniably better is Kizer's 2015 campaign.

Beaux Collins (Giants), Jordan Clark (Jets), and Howard Cross III (Bengals) UDFA signings.

I legitimately don’t have a clue what the shit the browns are trying to do at quarterback. That might be the most insane QB room of all time

So, don't kill the messenger here but I saw people equating it to the pats last year. They took two, had Milton play the finale and parlayed that into draft capital. Will it work here, probably not. But there is proof of it working recently.

SIAP. Have you all seen the prank call to Shedeur? Ole Miss frat bros pretending to be Saints GM. Brutal.

Future trade bait

The difference is Milton was taken in the 6th and has enticing physical traits. Nobody is going to be enticed by seeing more of Gabriel, we’ve seen more than enough, and they certainly won’t pay a second to make it worth it

They’ve also locked in Maye so Milton is pure surplus, whereas the Browns likely take a third QB in two drafts next year.

8. Cleveland Browns: Malachi Fields, WR, Notre Dame

Surprised? Fields is of the most impressive players I've watched this offseason who I had scant idea existed a few months ago. Fields, who transfers to Notre Dame trom Virginia, is a huge receiver is built more like a tight end that can not only stretch you vertically but also catch the five-yard hitches and break arm tackles for huge chunks. He's a D.K. Metcalf starter kit and is my top wide receiver in the draft. He goes here to a Cleveland team that can pair its new QB with a new weapon.

14. Dallas Cowboys: Jeremiyah Love, RB, Notre Dame

Dallas had all the Ashton Jeanty buzz months ago, but Jeanty's stock rose too high for the Cowboys. Jerry gets his chance here for a billboard talent on offense. Love enters the year as RB1 with a nice blend of speed and power and the ability to take over a game, hit the home run and make plays as a receiver.

19. Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Charles Jagusah, OG, Notre Dame

Jagusah is a 6-foot-7, 330 pounder who I actually think could be a guard at the next level — and perhaps one of the best in the league. Jagusah is a powerful run blocker with knock-back power and excellent athleticism.

Anthony Richardson has enticing physical traits. 😉

At least Milton was taken as a project and not a projected starter.

They have Jagusah going round 1 too
