Is anybody expecting two mouthpieces of Fox Sports (the most heavily invested media conglomerate in the B1G) to say anything positive about ND's independence?

Missouri was ranked for a good bit of the season and didn't beat one ranked team this year.

Oh it goes much deeper than that:

Missouri was ranked for 8 weeks, they didn’t beat a team over .500 all year

Tennessee was ranked the entire season, they didn’t beat a team over .500 all year either

They were used as cannon fodder to prop up other teams

Didn‘t Alabama have three losses this year? This guy is talking out of his ass.

I was thinking the same thing when I read this:

"We saw that this year, we saw it last year, when those 9-3 teams in the SEC were left out."

However, specifically, 'bama was 9-3 during the season and didn't play in the SEC Championship last year, and also didn't make the CFP/

This year, they did and end were destroyed by GA, ending up 9-3, and didn't drop behind Miami and ND, but should have.

Looking at the bowl game results so far wow it is some kind of embarrassing for the SEC.
All their teams that could lose have lost. Tenn, Missou, TAM, LSU etc
Their only win is Ole Miss over Tulane and a win in an in-conference game.

All I know is the CFB conference commissioners better change the field to 16 - at which point the top 12 MOU likely goes away - so that P4 teams don't shy away from scheduling ND. This whole current anti-ND and anti-schedule ND sentiment is ridiculous but I want to see it go away soon.

Joel Klatt: Scheduling Notre Dame 'Doesn't Make Any Sense' For USC, Any P4 Team
Did everyone love ND before this MOU was announced? Texas is complaining that they shouldn't have scheduled OSU. I don't think this is about an MOU or a conference; teams don't want tough OOC games. Klatt is saying ND has easier schedules than Big Ten teams. At least this year, that isn't true- ND's schedule is comparable to IU, OSU, Oregon, etc. But if it were true, that is an argument against scheduling any difficult OOC opponent, not just ND.

I believe Tenn finished the season w/ zero wins over teams w/ a winning record. Missouri wasn’t much better. SEC living off same old racket. Pre-season ranked & remain in rankings longer than they should after multiple losses. Then they count as quality wins for their opponents & make the case that they’d dominate any other conference.

with that increasing it will be difficult to get a proper gauge on which teams deserve to be in the play offs because, as can be seen now, it turns out the SEC was a very weak conference (about ACC level) and their hype is pure bullshit.

That was some of the softest shit I have watched since all these pussies have been piling on ND over the last couple months. Klatt and Cowherd were whining that entire segment. They should go back and watch themselves to see if they can get through their own segment. That hurt my head listening to those two morons.

LOL. Fuck you Lincoln Riley. You bitch. This is the only place where your name and "College Football Playoffs" will be used together. You, Chad, and your chickenshit enabling AD all deserve each other. Enjoy being cowards and losers together.

Exactly and why the SEC and Big10 instead should be falling over themselves to play ND and OOC games because although they make for tougher schedules, they are the comparison data points and help the committee compare teams.

Hell, if it weren't for Miami having that OOC game against ND, they likely aren't getting into the CFP.
And TAMU playing TAMU helped buttress their case since they had a pretty weak SEC schedule.

The conference commissioners should put even more rules in place as much as is possible to assure that the traditionally top 30 teams have a degree of difficulty to their schedule.

Lincoln Riley spent so much time talking about Notre Dame, he coached like he does against Notre Dame. Thank God TCU isn't on next years schedule

And if you really want to twist the knife, first round playoff games are NOT considered bowl games, since they are played at a home site.

In reality, the SEC hasn’t won a bowl yet, and after this weekend, they could have only one win, by virtue of a SEC vs SEC matchup.

And to use their logic against them:

All I’ve heard is “players sitting, bowls are meaningless, 8th best SEC vs 2nd best ACC, etc.”

This is all fine and dandy, until you realize these are the same people that spent the whole season saying how DEEP the SEC is, and how SPOILED ND is for not going to a stupid, crap-tier bowl game.

Once again I'm seeing Dan Lanning advocating for starting the playoffs a week earlier and playing the games at the higher seed's stadium. Couldn't agree more. I get that the goal was to "save" the NY6 bowls by having playoff games be "bowls" but this isn't sustainable and frankly, its bad TV compared to home playoff games.

Diego Pavia looking like straight trash early on against Iowa.

I imagine he'll put in for a 7th year after today considering from the looks he throws the ball worse than some 7th graders

Why do these NY6 bowls need to be preserved? Why do they get treated like a fucking endangered species to be protected at all costs? What does CFB owe the Rose Bowl or Orange Bowl? Bloated bullshit organizations and much of their finances are publicly available. $23M revenue last year reporting over $80M of net assets making millions in profit every year. Also "Reported Conflict of Interest Transactions" are noted on the filings.

Orange Bowl

$2.1M of compensation to 7 executives plus another $315k of "other" compensation. $771k to be the CEO of the Orange Bowl where Eric Poms has been employed for 33 years according to LinkedIn. What an impressive grift. How could college football survive without Eric Poms and his peers grifting for luxury boxes at the top games throughout the season. Their $80M of assets can endow $4M of local charity forever - South Florida can survive.

Didn’t see a bowl game thread. But, anyone else rooting for Vanderbilt to get absolutely smashed today?

Sorry Lea, but Pavia (who is trash, no knocks on his game) and SEC too much to pull for the former underdogs.
Seeing the SEC lose games brings me joy. And I think it has *some* carryover into next season.

They don't need to be. They should go the way of the dodo bird. The FCS is playing their national championship game this weekend in Nashville. They start playoffs Thanksgiving weekend with 24 teams. Somehow they manage to do this without six neutral site bowl games.

Here's what they should actually do:

Play the big Bowl Games at the start of the season, Week 0. Invite big time brands and pay them a bunch of money. Preserves OOC big matchups and you get full teams playing in meaningful games.

For example, have Rose Bowl invite last year's Big Ten champ + PAC 12 champ (oops j/k USC killed that conference) for a Week 0 game. Have Sugar Bowl invite reigning SEC champ + whoever. And on and on. Would be epic. Then play all your playoff games on campus until the semifinals, and do neutral site games at that point.
