How far did we drop after Northern Illinois last year? I feel like we're a little lower than this time last year
IIRC it was #18 or #19How far did we drop after Northern Illinois last year? I feel like we're a little lower than this time last year
You are correct, went from #5 to #18IIRC it was #18 or #19
This seems about right. It's kinda funny that the stats nerds, talking heads, bro media (barstool, etc.) all seem to still be bullish on Notre Dame while we are all running around with our hair on fire. Some Updated Computer Power Rankings this morning:

I'll only call for Freeman's head if Ash is still employed come next year. This seems about right. It's kinda funny that the stats nerds, talking heads, bro media (barstool, etc.) all seem to still be bullish on Notre Dame while we are all running around with our hair on fire.
I do think ND has an opportunity to do the Clemson circa 2015-2020 thing where the regular season is basically an opportunity to get things figured out. The schedule is not daunting at all. Its entirely plausible that by November Notre Dame is sitting around the 10 spot. Its also plausible there are 4 losses and people are screaming for Freeman's head.
I think that might still be from last week.Remained at 21 in the Coaches Poll
Other coaches hate us. Always.Remained at 21 in the Coaches Poll
Sagarin has us at #3 and FPI at #6. If we win out we will almost certainly have a higher ranking in advanced stats than in the polls. The CFP committee presumably cares more about that.

That's pretty appalling and bizarre to not move up at all. But whatever.NCAA College Football Coaches Poll | USA Today Sports

Thoughts? How much did you lay? I mean lose.FSU -6.5 against Virgina has got to be the easiest Money out there this weekend
The end result will also depend on their losses (quality of loss + when they occur). We will have a strong edge in both of these.Personally don’t see any path to the playoff.
I know I’m wrong, but there will be too many teams that finish with 2 or less losses that have at least one marquee win, and then you will also have Penn State’s obligatory free pass.

Agree. That's what I mean. Those SEC teams are ranked way too high. If they start to knock each other off, we will see how the cookie crumbles.I don't know about "mediocre" as an adjective I'd use for these SEC teams. That, in fact, scares me vis-a-vis Championship selection.
Here's a scenario: Four champions + One "Little" = FIVE, ----> SEVEN left. Say the following are all 10-2 (or better) in the SEC: A&M, Ole Miss, Texas, Alabama, Georgia, and ???(TN, Vandy, OK, LSU) pick any combo getting to "6". Now, given the team-on-team, is that even possible? Right now I don't know, but maybe. But if so, what if a champ plus Five more get in? If Six SEC then there is only space for one other team (ex. OSU/OR)(and us). If Five SEC, there is only room for two other teams (ex. OSU/OR, plus IN?, PSU?, UM? ... or number two BIG12 ISU/TTech or ...?)
I don't like it. Too many SEC teams not only look like good teams but are all highly rated already. Will they really cannibalize each other effectively down to a lot of three loss teams? And will BIG12 still have only one? And ACC (which is more likely.) Five SEC plus Three B1G plus ACC plus Big12 (only one) plus "little" is what we're probably hoping for. By the way, if "darlings" like Vandy go 10-2, I'm betting they're in. A second place Big12 2-loss ISU probably too. (let alone a 1-loss ISU.)
Too complex for now ... I need a lot of cannibalism and A&M and Miami not crapping the bed, I think. If both of them roll to top 5-8 status, then we don't look like a two-loss team even though we are.
Every time an SEC team loses a conference game—no matter the team—it just proves the greatness of the SEC. Circulus in probando. You cannot argue with somebody using an endless loop, no matter how often the loop is interrupted.Agree. That's what I mean. Those SEC teams are ranked way too high.
